Talent levels tank!
Being the lowly Chicago Cubs, I had a pretty good draft for the 2014 season. Three solid 4.5 star or higher pitchers and a three star outfielder. Now, we all know that draft choices don't always pan out, but yikes! Moving on to the 2015 season, only one of those pitchers is still reasonably rated. The rest are all down to half a star.
And it, once again, seems that talent level can only go down and never up. In the much earlier versions of OOTP there was always one or two pleasant surprises every three years. It also seems that 5 star potential players are a little more immune to this phenomenon. Is there any way to mitigate problem with the talent variance setting? |

That's a pretty small sample size. I wouldn't go messing with settings or assuming the game works a certain way based on three players one draft. Did you look at the other highly rated prospects that were in the draft to see if the rest of them all saw a big drop in ratings?

That does seem like a big drop in talent, but those top prospects probably got off to slow starts in rookie ball so the game ranked them accordingly. And yeah, it's the Cubs so I guess that might have something to do with it too....LOL j/k!!

I do realize four players isn't enough to come to a final conclusion, but I don't recall having three out of four draft picks go completely bust in less than a year. Normally it take more time than that. After temporarily turning the scouting off, I also noticed that one of the newly one star pitchers potential number were virtually just as good as Jeff Samardjia's.
So now I'm wondering if there's an internal issue with the star ratings. |

How old are they? What level are they at? Have they moved up since you drafted them? Do you have relative (Einstein) ratings on or off? Is your overall based on pure ratings or AI eval? How is your AI eval set up? Are they compared to position or all players?
Star ratings are relative. Maybe they are being rated in a better pool. Maybe they are being rated against all players. Unless they are 25-26 they can still develop so let them go until they are too old. Edit I forgot, what is your TCR set at?

Rich,
Ages: 18, 22, 21, and 19 Level, The one pitcher who didn't change is at A, the other three are in Rookie ball The pitcher at the single A level did move up. The game is at the default pure rating setting The AI setting is the default Again, it's the default comparison to only the same position. |

Did their ratings other than overall change?
Stuff, Movement, Control? Are their pitches developing?

Pure ratings may be an issue. Low ratings=few stars. I was not aware that pure ratings was the default, I've never run a league with anything but AI evaluation.

Yeah, change to the new rating system, then you can go into the level they are in and use the drop down to show ratings relative to that particular league.
