You could always load up the quickstart and sim ahead to, say, 2020 or 2025. Makes it basically a fictional game within a real life league setup.

Yeah, I mean, I've got my one league that I'm playing out every game and reporting on... I just like to mix it up. I pretty much never play MLB games and have never had an MLB report.

It would be different if the Tigers were crap... now, I know I'd want to restart every time I changed the team... so no Tigers present-day.

At the same time, the main reason I would want to play them is to win the title I haven't seen since I was 6 years old and then take their legends to the Hall... so who knows. It's not like my little sim baseball universe is really going to make a difference on if they win the Series or not.

See, it used to be FUN to play games with the Tigers. I didn't care about screwing up the team when we were losing 114 games.

I used to have this problem when I used to play the NHL series... I'd want to change little things on the team but worry about screwing up the real team. Not that it mattered, especially back then I was one of the sickest video hockey gamers on the planet. Still didn't want to do it.

Same with NBA... didn't want to mess with the Pistons while they were good.

Funny, I've really never had this problem in football.

Same thing happened with me with Madden when the Patriots started stomping the rest of the NFL for a while, then with NCAA football after Auburn won in 2010. I sympathize.

I have no mercy in baseball, though. No matter how much I win, I can win more/better/cheaper/smarter, while getting players to the HOF (only the baseball HOF matters to me), and ultimately targeting the overall historical benchmarks of the Yankees for eventual matching and subsequent obliteration.

I guess I'm saying that it's nice to have goals.
