Nesterovic to Spurs...

...Timberwolves finding it harder and harder to be 5th best team in the West.

Spurs get a high post C who will stay out of Duncan's way but who has a good jumper and can contribute.

Do the Spurs stop now? What do the Wolves do?

The Spurs don't need to make any dramatic changes. The team is young, should improve with experience and is the defending champions. I'm of mixed feelings as to how much Malone and the Glove will help the Lakers.

As for the T-Wolves, good lawd.

What place did the Lakers finish in 2003 during the regular season? The playoffs? Is a fix for that of equal ease?

Making role players out of stars, Malone and Payton, will be an interesting task for the Laker's coach. If Jackson were to decide not to return next season, even moreso. Has a decision been made there yet?

Jackson's still under contract for one more year, and he's been quoted as being really excited to come back, and the rumor is he's considering an extension for two more years. So, barring health problems, that's a non-issue.

Of course, the players will need time to come together as a team, but look at what they added for $6 million this offseason. What team wouldn't be thrilled with that? Add to that the fact that, at worst, the Lakers were the fifth best team in the league last year. (Personally, I think they were second or third, but you could conceivably have them behind the Spurs, Kings, Mavs and Nets.)

Payton may not be in his prime, but he can score 20 points a game and dish out 8 assists. Also, Payton, Shaq and Malone have all had excellent passing stats for their careers. I don't see how anyone other than the Spurs and Kings can even stay on the same court with them if they're healthy, and I think they are significantly better than even those two.

Ugh.

What's the story with Brad Miller? I haven't heard much about him, has he decided to stay with the Pacers?

No word yet. I read that the Wolves are courting him, which would be nice for them. You know, since they don't have a center. And no, Ervin Johnson doesn't count. Maybe Marc Jackson will put it all together.

And what's up with Olowokandi these days?

But they probably won't have Robert "Clutch" Horry.

Good to hear the first bit about Jackson. Perhaps the finest coach the NBA has ever seen. Auerbach would be his only peer. I have no great enmity for the Lakers and another title for Jackson and crew would evoke no howls.

I do believe that melding this impressive group of talent into a team will take some doing but Jackson is by far the most qualified coach in the NBA to so. Will make for a very interesting season.

The Lakers ENDED the season the 5th best team or so. They were not considering the entire season.

Damn Wolves and letting Rasho get away. Oh well, there goes our franchise.</sarcasm> On the real though, it does sorta suck that Rasho won't be back cause he was our starting center. We'll fill the void somehow though, no big deal. Brad Miller wouldn't be a bad addition but wouldn't really be an upgrade from losing Rasho. He'd be better than using Ervin Johnson though. I think Marc Jackson is a decent center if he'd progress a little and get a little more playing time.

Kandi man signs with Minnesota. I ask, I shall receive.

This makes me glad Rasho left...Kandi is comparable if not better and is certainly cheaper.

Being "really excited" would suggest a realization of self, an attachment to emotions, and lack of understanding that nothing is everything - there is no difference. That leads me to believe that Jackson has lost his enlightenment and Zen perspective and understanding ~ So therefore will not be able to manage the rigors of The Four Am-Egos.

If Payton shoots enough to score 20, the three other Am-Egos will not be happy.

My point exactly. LA doesn't need stars, they have Shaq and Kobe for that. Can Malone and Payton be effective as role players and are they willing to make the attempt?

Yes! Every basketball thread would be about the Lakers.
