Overall vs. individual ratings
So, I have a prospect pitcher who is roughly 70 stuff, 70 movement, and 50 control (out of 100). Good stamina and hold. His potential is 76 and has been since I drafted him as a 21-yr old. He's now 23 going into his third pro season and I think I should let him start in my rotation. But even though his individual ratings are way higher than many other pitchers with better overall ratings, and he's mostly reached his potential except for control, he's still listed as "20." Is there a hidden modifier I do not know about that would mean he's not ready to play in the majors even though his individual ratings say he should be fine?

No, nothing hidden. Is scouting on? How is your overall rating setup in the global selections? That is, are you using AI Evaluation settings? If you are, what are they? Is his role setup as SP or RP? Is your evaluation setting, if you use it, set to Position or All Players?

![]() But note how the game only rates him as a half-star overall. This is because he only has two effective pitches (again, without ratings, but I can assure you from accessing the editor that his changeup is sub-par), and starting pitchers need at least THREE effective pitches for the game to consider them viable. Now watch what happens when I switch his position to Closer: ![]() All of a sudden, he's the best pitcher on my staff. This is my best guess as to what you're seeing. If this isn't the issue, then answer the rest of endgame's questions and we'll figure it out from there. |

Scouting is on, I have the standard AI evaluation (if I don't use AI evaluation, doesn't that turn scouting off?). Starter with four pitches. Now, a few starts into the season, his overall has climbed to 27, but still. If he's good enough to be a starter (and he's listed as a starter), why wouldn't the "overall" be up already?

Also, that league comparison checkbox. Without it checked, and if it's your only ML, the rating will inflate. Checked it appears to compare the player across only the parent league and lowers the overall comparison rating.

I have "all player ratings are displayed relative to" unchecked
Overall ratings based on AI Eval is checked (if unchecked, doesn't that remove scouting?) Based on an all players, not positions is unchecked AI settings are default (65/20/10/5) |
