I Hate This Game
Ok, not really but V15 has the same cruel twists of fate of the previous versions.
With three games left in the regular season, after I clinched the division on the strength of my pitching staff, I lose one of my best hitters (one of the two in the whole lineup who hit over .300 for the season) for the playoffs due to an injury. One game into the LCS I lose my #1 starter to a virus of all things for two weeks after he wins Game One. Naturally we lose the next four to get knocked out of the playoffs. Time to push the rock back up the hill again. The more things change.... All kidding aside, the ability to set age limits for the minors is a huge positive improvement. I would say it's the biggest and best improvement. Players are at the level they should be at, and my A ball teams are not getting demolished every season losing 110 games because I'm stocking my A ball teams with young prospects while the AI teams would be full of 27-30 year olds.

What do you set the age limits at?

Yeah, the age limits addition is a great touch. I'll add this cautionary caveat, though, as a result of my own testing with it: make very certain you have enough players entering the league through the feeder system or draft pools (or even in your league creation) to constantly supply enough players of that age group available for signing. The game will halt if it can't find a player to fill a role within those parameters.

21-Rookie
22-Short A 24 A 25 AA Unlimited for AAA. With no age limit for AAA you can stash that veteran you signed in case of an emergency. With a 25 year old age limit for AA you keep the young guys at their own level.

Now 35 year olds are taking you A ball spots from the guys who need playing time. We used to never have younger guys playing when they need to and you aren't forced to bring a 18 year old up early with no limits in R ball nor can a 26 year old he down there! So should a 35 round draft have 40 rounds to keep players around? |

Another benefit if the age limits is the AI sends guys to the right level when you sign minor league free agents. This past season I signed a couple of infielders in their early 30s so I'd have some contingency if a guy on the big league squad got hurt. The AI sent them right to AAA whereas in the past they'd go who knows where and I'd have to manually assign them.

This game IS rough. On the very first day of the season, the Cardinals lost Carpenter and Wainwright to injuries for four weeks each and lost Molina for the season..
Fortunately I was playing another team.

It's a love/hate relationship with this game. It's a thin line between love and hate

Another change I really like is being able to see what job I offered to what coach. When I have seven or eight vacancies to fill among my minor league teams it became very easy to lose track of what job I offered to what coach. The Pending Offers tab now shows just what I offered to whom. It's a small change, but a very good one.

Question for you. Theoretically, as the players age over the max, those whose skills also diminish will be escalating upward toward the ML tier and end up at AAA for backup or promotion, and possibly release, dependent on the degree you/we individually monitor a player's progress. Given that, did you decide to raise the roster size limit for your AAA league as well? Or do you even have roster size limits?

Not to belabor the discussion, but rather to enable it for public input, you personally monitor the quality levels and make those release decisions to stay within the roster limits parameters?

I haven't worked with the new limits that much as we've all only had the game for a week. I would imagine I'll keep my eye on the guys in AA and if they're 25 years old start thinking about whether or not I'll keep him or cut him.

Well, I'm still looking into it, now that we've been discussing it, but it appears that the age limit settings are only being applied to human-controlled teams. The AI teams are ignoring it.
I'll continue to test, but this is a potential issue. No need to sound the alarm, but any supporting info from anyone else who cares to take a lot would be appreciated.

Perhaps it's because I'm still in preseason..... Definitely something amiss. Thanks, though.Edit: Still shuffling through test leagues, but yes, it's the time of the season that seems to be affecting it outright, as it should. Active Rosters, once a league's season actually begins, look to move into compliance.

When setting the age limits do both values have to be set? Ex. 25 minimum and 25 maximum for AA or just set the maximum?
