Promoting to the Majors
Developmentally, is it better to have a good prospect (whose already being paid) playing every day in the minors or riding the pine in the majors with an occasional DH or pinch hitting appearance?

I would rather have him playing every day. If he is projected to be better than my current starter, I'll trade the current starter and play the young guy.

He's a real liability defensively right now. He would make a good DH or pinch hitter, but not a starter at this point.
I was planning to send him to the minors to learn another position (he plays 2B/SS and is E in both) that I didn't rely so heavily on defensively. I was consider LF since my current LF, while a real powerhouse, is now in his 30's. I don't want to trade my current LF yet though, he is my best player and I would likely fall out of contention if I did that. I was hoping to trade my LF at the end of the season and then start using my young player. I just wasn't sure if it would be best to leave my young guy in the minors for the whole season where he could play daily, or if he would be better served coming off the bench in the majors (after he learns his new position that is...). |

If your prospect can play LF, CF, RF, or any other outfield position other than LF, then you may want to consider trading your CF or RF (or thier backups) so he gets more at-bats. (Perhaps even a starting position) I hate seeing talented prospects wither in AAA.
