Expansion in Korea

New to the forum, haven't played OOTP as Football Manager takes up most of my sim time but the presence of international leagues attracted me.

Having lived in Korea and gone to LG Twins games quite often, I am looking forward to playing in Korea. I see that NC Dinos are in the game, which is great.

Just curious if the expansion entry of KT Wiz to KBO from 2015 is included as the seasons advance?

Im going to jump in and say no, I doubt its been added to happen automatically, as there is no mention of this in the release notes. However its fairly simple to do by yourself ingame before the 2015 season.

(but if its gonna happen auto and they just didnt tell us, even better!)

OK, thanks. Guess I'll need to do some snooping around here to see how to edit that aspect of the game. Since KT Wiz already exist at the minor league level, assume it is simple to move them up.

Yes it will be simple. Im not to clued up on moving teams around manually but there are plenty on here who do all sorts of crazy things so im sure somebody will appear with a solution for you!

Yes. Just put yourself in commish mode, go to league settings of the Futures League > edit league structure > Move KT to the KBO then regenerate both the Futures League and KBO schedules. Should be all set.

You'll probably want to create a Futures League affiliate for kt as well.

It won't happen automatically but the instructions above should do the trick.

Maybe in the future that kind of option.

When were you in Korea? I've been living here since 2007. I lived in Seongnam for one year, so I used to attend quite a few LG and Doosan games. Since 2009, though, I've been watching my home team in Daegu. Samsung (and winners of three straight championships ).

Lived there from 2000-2001 and again from 2005-2010. Go back once every couple of months on business.

When I first went over it was working on a JV with LG. Most of my Korean colleagues were LG Twins fans so we went quite often. Like to get to games when I can when visiting. Just about the cheapest thing you can do in Seoul.

Samsung, the New York Yankees of Korea!

Side note: my LG Twins team is not doing so well so far. Mirroring real life.

Twins fan here.

Have you had trouble with KBO bunting in OOTP 15? Seems all bunts result in an out at 2nd... Gonna check this more carefully.

I'll run a few seasons and check how it goes before giving a feedback on this first OOTP KBO. There's not that much info on KBO so I'm curious how well they did it.

I'm only 7 games in so not much data to go by yet. I recall having seen an out at 2nd twice and the bunt work successfully a few more times than that.

Actually have seen 6 bunts this morning, only 1 resulted in a put out at 2nd base.

Was a too small sample. After I got 7 (!!) consecutive out at 2nd, it got better after.

Daegu, huh?

That makes two of us!

OK, I've been looking at how KT Wiz will enter the league (some of which is still unknown it seems - any changes to schedule, any expansion draft, etc.).

One thing I realized, though, is KT Wiz participated in the 2014 draft. They got the first two picks of the draft, picked 12th overall after that, had an additional 5 picks awarded after the 2nd round

Looking at the roster for the Wiz at the Futures League (level where they this year in advance of joining the KBO next year) I don't see their draft picks on the roster. All of the other 2014 first year draft players are on their teams except for the Wiz.

How did OOTP handle the Wiz for this year, because at first blush it looks like they are not set up quite right for next season?

All the wiz guys from the 2014 draft are there. I haven't entirely finalized their full roster so they may be missing a couple other guys, but the draft picks are there.

I haven't used the same spelling translations that the Baseball in Korea site uses for everyone since they use the less common translations for some guys. So Shim is actually Sim (though I should probably change that back to Shim), Mun is Moon, the An's are Ahn etc.

I'll go back in and check soon as I have a chance just to make sure it was not early morning fatigue, but did not see any of them there. Will check the transaction log as well to make sure they were not traded away.

Sorry, false alarm. I went to the roster screen and didn't see them as it only showed the active roster. Not used to having a Reserve Roster, which is where the draftees are.

Of course that is possibly an issue as well? First season, none of these kids are getting any playing time. They are all on a reserve roster that plays no games. Not sure how many players KT Wiz had at the outset, but currently in my game they have 111 players; 25 on active roster (including 8 foreigners) and the rest in reserve.

Looking at the transaction log, looks like they signed over 40 players since the start of the game and have a total of close to 40 foreign players across their active/reserve roster.
