What AI Evaluation Settings are you using?

for those of you that use them, of course.

I've been running with a 40/30/20/10 (ratings/current/1 year/2 years) split for a while now, and it seems to work pretty well (this is with trades on hard).

curious to see what the rest of you guys use

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

I change them depending on the time of year

Preseason it is

40/0/40/20

May

40/20/20/20

June

30/30/20/20

July

20/50/20/10

Aug

10/60/20/10

Sep

30/55/10/5

For Sep, I want to think it helps plug in some young guys for callups over struggling vets

I tried something a little different in 14.

For a long time I was using 50/25/15/10.

I wanted to go to something more stat heavy, but was running into issues where I was getting weird results in the beginning of the season. Probably as with the poster above me, changing eval during the season would be ideal, but for simplicity I wanted a solution that I didn't have to tinker with constantly.

So I ended up doing 33/25/25/17

I have used it for a few seasons and I'm pretty happy with the results. By treating current and last season equally I don't get weird shifts when the season turns over. I also tried going lower on ratings like 20 or 25 and feel like the AI does not treat rookies and prospects as I would. In the end I think its pretty balanced, I give 1/3 to rating and 2/3 to stats.

I have trade on hard also, and favor prospects, although I'm thinking of trying out neutral. I find I can never make realistic trades since it seems like the AI will never trade a prospect for even a good quality vet that fills one of their needs even with these AI eval settings.

Is the consensus that the default 65% ratings weight is too high?

You're going to find settings all over the map serving personal preferences. I'd only offer up two suggestions. First, just fool around with it making whatever changes you want to try, click Apply Changes now and look around. When it arrives at a point where the overall/potential ratings for the player's profile looks right to you, you're done. Secondly, like Carlton and MD before him, I wish I'd religiously get on board with the incremental changes at different times of the season. I think it just makes sense, but I get a little complacent, I guess. Even then, you'd have to pick your own times, measure the effect, and get comfortable for what works for you. There's no right or wrong.

Does this go in tandem with the "Overall rating based on AI evaluation, not pure ratings" opttion? Or will changing the percentages do think trick on its own?

The changes will be reflected in the game's presentation any time you have the AI Eval box checked at all. With nothing checked, the AI Eval isn't being used and the game is relying on true ratings to reflect the OVR/POT stars/numbers. Again, lest anyone get a little confused, we're never talking about changes or reflections of a player's skills, but the overall rating of the profile. The 'total' assesment is the only effect on display. The balance of those reflections are changes in scouting, quality of scouting, and whether you're looking at OSA or Head Scout. Sorry to sidetrack a little, but it's easy to get a bit off-track with the terminologies we kick around.

I am thinking the defaults are the way to go now. Also, in doing so, I feel this reduces the need to use the hard trade difficulty, which results in more more reasonable and less one sided trades (In other words, the AI won't rape you, but you can't really rape it, either.)

I had been using 0/67/22/11 since OOTP 11 (credit: MD), but I switched to 0/50/33/17 at some point with OOTP 14 and that's what I'm using now (credit: The Wolf). I play Diet Stats-Only.

Also switching to "diet Stats-Only" in 15, but for a different reason... but my eval settings are:

0/67/22/11

at most I would run 10/67/17/6.

My aging/devs for all curious:

.200
1.100
.200
1.100

--- I don't know how to make the graphs eiskrap makes but I think I've got the dev/aging in a great spot too.
