Small Font Only?

Seems I can only get small font as a choice in 15 when running windowed. I could get any in 14 running windowed. Granted, some of them would look messed up, but I could get them if I wanted to. And, yes, I'm selecting the standard font size then quitting and restarting.

Is this another case of 15 "saving me from myself" like the mandatory full screen bunk (that was addressed in the patch)?

Here's 14 with standard font then 15 with the forced small font.

Why can't I have standard font like in 14? Granted, the difference isn't HUGE, but it is enough to make 15 uncomfortable to view. My eyes aren't getting any better with age!

It looks like the only way I can get around this is:

Start Full Screen, and select the font size I want.

Then, switch to windowed/maximized. The font size then stays, but when the game is restarted later, it reverts back to small unless I do the above dance again.

Help!

Both are just screen caps of max windowed 14 then 15. No manipulation done.

i didnt think you manipulated anything but it was wierd to say the least ....I did wonder if perhaps the various add on central downloads might help with various fonts and screen displays ???? I never tried it and maybe the ones who have might be able to let you know if thats good or not so good to help with this issue ??

Oh, sorry. Thought you were saying I zoomed one in.

The fonts are JUST small enough on the small font setting to make it tough to read for me. I see no reason why I can't get standard fonts in windowed - just like 14.

Nothing on the add-on section to cure this. . .

I have tried to change font size and game sets it back to small. Could be my monitor resolution. Using laptop with max resolution 1152x864.

I'm on an Alienware M11x at 1366x768.

Either way, you should be able to set the font size you want - period!

It may well be something's off in the logic. I don't know. I'd suggest this, however, as it's always worked for me, but then again I haven't had the full screen problem (except it's slower at full screen). ANYway....go to your FILE Settings and change your font setting to your preference and click out of the settings screen. Immediately restart. Then check the setting, see if it stuck, and please report back. Thanks.

Nope. Window/maximized/standard font/immediate restart = goes back to small font on restart.

I've even tried making the CFG read-only with the settings I want to no avail.

Based on Dodger's reply, this appears to be another "improvement" over 14 and not something that's wrong with my install. Hopefully it'll be "unimproved" next patch.

The font setting seems to be sticking for me. Making changes in windowed mode doesn't do anything but if I switch to full screen, change the size, restart the game and then switch back to windowed the font size will stick from then on. I'm using the maximum font size, though, maybe that makes a difference?

I ran into this, too. My guess is that it is indeed related to having a small resolution, in the same way that the game forces fullscreen on the smallest monitors, and insistently warns you to hide the taskbar on the slightly larger ones.

I can live with it, but count me in on wanting it changed. If I'm okay with missing some information here and there due to running windowed mode or having a larger font, I should be able to change it.

I'd like to second all of that.

After his well-earned vacation, hopefully he'll see that this needs changing. Cool.
