As GM

I want to sign a player in free agency that of course wants to start but also expects to be at the top of the order. In player strategy I would like the choice to 1. lock him into CF and 2. lock in into the #1 spot in the order.

Same goes for pitchers, I need a veteran for the 5th spot and as of now if I lock him into the SP role he goes to #1 spot. We need the choice of what role and spot in the rotation.

Keep in mind this is not as manger, but GM.

Thanks.

Agreed on this. Would love this to be added.

I am a GM and I put the sp in the order I want them. I make sure it is tag as to follow strict order and it stays that way so not sure why you can't do it.

I agree with this too. I mean you can keep it in order yourself, it just makes for more work

I agree with you on this but isn't that the point of the GM as oppose to the Manager? I think the only GM out there that has more say in his team is the Owner of the Marlins. (Or Jerry Jones but wrong sport). I get what you want to do here and I like the idea but doesn't that take the fun out of being the GM?

I don't think I've heard of a GM who makes a decision on where a starter fits into the rotation. Seems like a manager's job to me.

Does the force start at SP,MR,CL work in this version?

It worked the last 3 versions for position players, but never for pitchers.

I am a Commish only guy and want to every once in awhile slap the AI as they will keep a 6.88 ERA/Blown saves ERA Dennis Eckersley in the closer spot, when their setup man has been lights out

would think the manager would handle the lineup responsiblities NOT the GM

I always have my manager set lineups and rotations.. but I do make tweaks here and there, so I keep that GM box unchecked.

It is just for simplicity and keeping players happy. Some managers do not make the best decisions. Like allowing your ace 127 pitches in April. I am looking at you VENTURA.

You can also look at this option:

In manager options enable commissioner mode, go to your team home screen, click on Options & Ball park, place a check mark in "Prevent any AI roster changes".

You only see this box when in Commissioner mode.

After you make the change you can disable commissioner mode, the change you just made will still be active.

You can do this not only for your own team but for all AI teams also if you want to.
