Japan/posting players

I thought I read that in OOTP 15 you could view players that are currently playing in Japan. If you like a player, you can select to bid on him with a posting fee.

Two questions...

1. Where do I view the Japan league when I'm starting a standard 2014 MLB season? All I can find is the various minor leagues.

2. I've simmed 3 season and have yet to see any players in the "players posted" section of the transactions section, why is this?

You likely have to explicitly create a Japanese league and, then, set this league to post players. You'll find posting (either at league creation or later) under the settings tab under "financials."

If you don't create a Japanese league you still might get a developed free agent from Japan (but I don't think you'll get a posted player).

You have to choose to include one or more of the various international leagues when you create the game (or, I guess, you can add them later). Then, every now and then a player from said league will post and you can bid on the privilege of negotiating a contract. I think this would only happen in the offseason but I'm not sure.

The "Majors" quickstart (not the standard game) has all of the international leagues active. You should see players posted if you use that quickstart.

If I play an MLB quickstart, I have to turn the Japanese posting on? Do you know where I would do this?

Thanks.

I thought that was just for enabling posting from players on your own team/league?

See below. Posting is done for the league that does the posting (in this case Japan).

Has anyone simulated enough off seasons to get a feel for how many players get posted per year?

I was rather disappointed to discover this. I started a Japanese league using the quickstart only to discover that posting was turned off. I play out all of my games and you can only change the financial system in the preseason, so I'm just going to start over. Any idea why they chose to disable such a heavily promoted feature in the quickstart?

Well, humans make mistakes

The QS in the upcoming patch Monday has it enabled by default, of course.

Would any other leagues be good to have the posting system turned on or is the Japan league the only one that does it?

I set Korean league to have the same $20 million limit as the ***. And also $1 in the Cuban league to try and simulate defecting. I don't know what the MLB-KBO agreement actually is though. I just set an arbitrary number identical to the *** agreement.

I've only simmed one season: *** had 2 players posted (and neither was Kenta Maeda), and Korea and Cuba had 0 players posted.

Be interested to know if Cuba based players are ever posted with such a small posting fee.

It's probably not going to work and I'm thinking of possibly increasing the maximum to maybe $10,000+ or something. I don't really know.

The thing is a lot of players don't receive the contracts like Puig, Cespedes, Hechavarria, Abreu, Chapman, etc. and get minor league contracts so it's a bit hard to try and emulate...

Those guys will likely post for less than the full fee and small contracts. So it should come out ok in the end.

As always, you are the best. I'm glad it was just a mistake and not a big scary bug.

So for the most part it seems like posted players will be minimal? I would hate to see the league flooded with posted players, just looking for 1-2 every once and while. I also like your idea of turning it on for Cuba to simulate defections.
