Dynasty- Matt "Double-M" Martini

I have over the past few months noticed the lack of dynasties on the iOOTP Forums. I decided to post one once iOOTP 14 was released so here we go. This will be a player dynasty so I have NO control over roster moves or lineups. I started in the 2014 season and simmed up to the release of the draft prospect list and edited one player to become starting pitcher Matt Martini (below) and I will follow his career in this dynasty wherever he may fall (from career minor leaguer to hall of famer.

As you can see he has great potential but is very raw at only 18 years old. his velocity is average and he has 5 pitches in his arsenal. He looks to be a top prospect but is rated as a Bullpen/Emergency Starter.

As the draft comes nearer Matt Martini gains much to his draft stock and is viewed as a guaranteed top-10 pick by most MLB experts. Multiple teams in the top 5 have dire needs at pitcher. When the draft roles around the first two players off the board are both first basemen. The third pick is a pitcher but not Matt Martini. The 4th pick is the Toronto Blue Jays who are overjoyed Martini has fallen to them and immediately scoop him off the board.

As a raw 18 year old Matt Martini will have to begin his career as a minor leaguer like most young prospects. One thing that makes his being picked by the Blue Jays strange is that they already have multiple good pitching prospects led by very similar pitcher Matt Smoral. Martini will have to prove his worth in the next few seasons to make his way to the majors.

As expected Matt Martini didn't receive any playing time in the majors through his first season. The Blue Jays expectedly struggled and finished 70-92. Through the offseason the team didn't do much to help and look to struggle again in 2015. As for Martini he remains a minor leaguer but is getting better and in fact was named the #13 prospect in the MLB to start the season. To come with that is more popularity and he is now listed as Well Known. Matt Smoral remains on the team still competing with Martini heavily.

Matt Marini never got a chance to play during the 2015 season. This is the only bad news however as the Blue Jays have shocked the world at 80-82. How you ask, well that record was magically enough to get the Jays to the top of the AL East over the BoSox, Yankees, Rays and Orioles. In the playoffs the Jays beat the Astros and Mariners to advance to the World Series. Unfortunately that is where their journey ended as they fell to the Cardinals.

Hey! I was interested myself and started my own one of these. I followed a 12P/12C 18 year old 1B out of high school. He's 24 years old and still developing. It was very interesting to follow all the story lines throughout his career so far. The draft after his, his team took a stud 1B 2nd overall who's currently still taking his spot on the roster. They also signed a fringy 1B to a 6 year 17 million contract. Currently, he's listed as a bench player and angry because he's in the minor leagues. Very fun!

Cheers.

Very cool! I would love to see more people do this kind of thing. I'll probably have more of this dynasty later in the day.

Good stuff, and I agree, this forum is definitely lacking in dynasties. I'm definitely interested in seeing what this guy will do.

So am I. It'll be real interesting. I'm still a little concerned he'll either wind up as a career reliever or I made him way overpowered. Still not quite sure but I can't wait to find out.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to do some more soon but Easter's gotten in the way. Maybe I'll be able to get some up soon.

Dynasty- Matt "Double-M" Martini

Now through the offseason Matt Martini is about to hit his third season. He is really improving especially his velocity. He is, however, frustrated that he will not start on the opening day roster. I'd expect to see him there very soon if he isn't traded by the World Series runner-ups.

Thank you! That really helped. I hadn't realized that was possible. I'll be able to do that from now on

Dynasty- Matt "Double-M" Martini

Now through his third season Matt Martini is extremely angry. He has gotten up to a 2.5 star but didn't play all season on the majors. The Jays didn't make the playoffs. Luckily for Martini he started season 4 number 2 in the rotation. He was also named the #3 prospect in the league.

By the All-Star break Martini came back from a horrid start to get up to 11-6 with a good ERA. Because of his popularity Matt Martini was named to the 2017 All-Star game.

Martini finished the 2017 season great at 16-10 with a 3.29 ERA and sits atop the rotation. Unfortunately the Jays failed to top the Astros for the second wild card spot. To start the 2018 season Matt Matini's potential increased as he looks to improve from now into the future.

Come All-Star Break 2018 Martini is not nearly as hot. He is 10-7 letting up a lot of runs. He is still by far the teams best pitcher but this bad season isn't looking good for the former all-star who shockingly didn't win ROY last year

Through the season Martini went 18-13 with a 4.73 ERA. He struggled the whole year unlike the Jays. They won the division but fell to the A's in round 1.
