Corsi Calculations

How are the Corsi stats calculated? Specifically, are the calculated during all situations (ES,PP,SH) or just during even strength?

I noticed that Hamhuis' relative Corsi sucks on my team but it makes sense if the Corsi calculation includes his PK shifts. He's probably getting peppered during that time.

bump. seems like an important question. Corsi is an even strength stat, is the in-game version even strength or all strengths?

Would be great to have Corsi/Fenwick Close in the game.

Also, as far as I can see, there is no way to show the Corsi of all players on your team at once. It is not a stat field on the team roster screens, so at the moment we must look at individual player pages, which is annoying for comparing players.

I would really like to see a "sort by" for Corsi, Fenwick and the GA/SA per 60

Yep. Make it sortable in your roster. Hell if you go all-out Extra Skater and thrown in O/Dst% that'd be awesome too.

To answer the original question, Corsi in the game is 5-on-5 only. Unadjusted Corsi always seems to be a little weird for good defensive defencemen - I remember Willie Mitchell getting a terrible number his last year in Vancouver, while Christian Ehrhoff had a great one, mostly because of big differences in their QoC and zone starts.

I definitely want to get more advanced stats in, although some of them can be a little demanding in terms of game performance/memory (Quality of Competition, for example, which a lot of other stats depend on, so that closes off a number of them until we can find a low-impact way of handling it. Zone Starts may be doable with the new match engine, but I'm not sure we'll have time to get it in.) First step will be getting the existing ones into the team/league leaders view, though, as well as some explanatory tooltips. Hopefully we can get that done for the match engine patch.

Well yeah, Corsi is a great statistic in general but terrible without context.

Bump for Fancy Stats.

It's actually what is stopping me from playing the game right now. I really want to evaluate my players via fancy stats like Corsi, Fenwick, and O/DSt%, but I'm far too impatient to click through each player in my roster. A roster view that had fancy stats would definitely rekindle my interest in the game.

As mentioned, Extra Skater would be a phenomenal template. Listing Corsi & Fenwick as a % is also, I find, more intuitive than the absolute number.

Lastly, is there anywhere in particular we should post feature requests?

Kallinan,

When I first loaded up this game I was flummoxed by the huge amount of detail and numbers. Like you I want a shortcut and used certain numbers while ignoring things like the "ratings" screen because it was too much. However, as I learned to digest the info I have found that it just took some time to get to know the info. Moreover, using shortcuts really led to some mediocre teams. I think this is why some people think the match engine isn't good. They load their teams up with players who have 7s, 7.5s, and so one and never bother to check which skills give them that overall rating. I can virtually guarantee that I will beat a team of 7s full of goons with my team of well rounded 6s. That's the problem with shortcuts. If you can slowly develop an eye for the stats and a bit more patience I think you'll love this game.

It's more that I love statistics, and would love to try & build a winning team largely leaning on fancy stats. That's simply what I want most out of FHM. I may give it another whirl at some point, but for right now it's shelved.

Fair enough. I love stats as well. It would be nice if the history section was a bit more robust but right now asking to add features seems silly as the game has quite a bit AND there is still a lot to work on. BTW, do you like running your leagues and then looking at the careers your players have had with you? I kinda get a kick out of that.
