Multi Season Players?
Hi all,
I'm a semi-new user and I'm loving the game! I would love to be able to create a season in which I could have teams from different seasons in one league. For instance, say the Yankees of 1927, the Indians from 1954 and, oh I don't know... some team from the 1970's and so on. Not only this, but also the ability to pull individual players from given seasons to form a particular league, such as an all Hall-of-Famer league. Is this possible? Thanks in advance, TC |

Also, please note that OOTP 15 will make this much easier to do. New features have been announced that will allow you to simply pick teams from any historical year as you create a custom league. You'll also be able to customize your random debut leagues further.

So, can anyone tell me or point me to a thread that would show me how to do this? I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Out of the Park Baseball Manual
Read this section, including the portion about importing historical teams at the bottom. I think you'll need to create a historical or fictional league and structure, but then delete all the teams and then import the historical clubs. Make sure to pre-order OOTP 15 because the process will supposedly remove most of these steps and build them into the league creation process.

1) Start by clicking New Historical Game 2) Choose a season to play in (it will then produce stats based upon this season). For example, choose the 1970 season and change Career Play to "Single-Season Replay". 3) Customize everything else how you want, but do NOT use real historical transactions as that is for a replay of the 1970 season using only 1970 teams. You can use triple A teams if you like, but it's not necessary. If you do, "ghost players" will be used to fill in the AAA teams. 4) Be sure to choose "Play in Commissioner Mode" on step 6 of 6 if you want full control of the league. In fact, you MUST be in this mode in order to properly setup the league so you can turn it off later if you like (once the league is all setup), but I'd recommend keeping it on. 5) Change Auto-Save (also on step 6 of 6) to once per week to avoid losing too much if you have a crash. 6) Now that your new league has loaded, go to the Game menu and choose "Setup & Options" under the Advanced section. 7) Now click on the League Setup tab. 8) Next, click on the Edit League Structure button. 9) From here, remove every team one at a time. 10) Now go to the League Menu at the top and choose "Free Agents" under the "Transactions" section. 11) Now you need to delete ALL of the players in here. These were the 1970 players that were on the teams you deleted. To delete them all, you need to select that little circle to the left of "POS" which is a header for the position column. Once you select that circle, all players will be selected. Now right-click over top of any of the players and choose "Delete Players". 12) Now go back to the League Menu and choose "League Setup" under the Advanced section. 13) Click on the functions menu at the bottom and click on "Erase the entire league history" (Otherwise, you'd have the league history from all the players and teams from the 1970 season.) 14) Now go to the AL (I'm starting here just for a particular example) and click "Import Hist. Team". 15) You should now see a folder at the top that says "data". Open "data" and then the "stats" folder. In here you'll see "historical_database.odb". Use that and not the Master.csv file. Note: If you don't see the data folder for some reason, click on the "Favorites" drop down at the top and choose "Data Folder". Now open the stats folder. 16) OK, each time you import a team, it will remember your database selection so you won't have to do step 15 again. The next step is to enter the year of the team you want imported at the top where it says "Enter Season Year". So put in 1954 (for example) and then click "Refresh Teams List" (you must refresh the list or else you'll not have the right year in the teams list). 17) Now select the 1954 Indians (make sure that you're importing this team into the AL - if you goof, you can always move it later so no big deal). You might want to leave all the settings at the defaults unless you're sure you know you want something different. 18) Click Import Team and repeat this process of importing teams for the rest of the teams. 19) When you're done importing the teams, you might want to change the names of them. For example, I found that having it say "Cleveland '54" for the team name and Indians for the nickname more convenient than having Cleveland for the team name and "Indians 1954" for the nickname, but you can do this any way you please of course. You can even make the team name just the "Cleveland Indians" with no reference to the year. 20) After this, you'll need to generate a schedule. There's a button to do that on this screen. Don't forget to do this when you're done adding teams. There might be some things I've omitted, but this should help you get there. It also might encourage you to consider buying OOTP 15 when you see how much easier it is to do this.
