Is it safe to "update" to IOS 7.1?

I deeply regret "upgrading" my iPad 2 to IOS 7 -- it is way too ugly, almost Microsoft awful -- but I cannot go back.

Now 7.1 appears, but I have read that some apps do not work well with upgrades in general.

So . . . has anyone upgraded to 7.1 and learned whether iOOTP still works?

I have no problem on an iPhone 4S.
