Who's that rookie?
Tim Borrett - that's who.
The rookie who threw a no-no in his first ever big league start - that's who! 1st over-all pick in 2010. Makes his debut in 2012 at the age of 20 - that's who. ![]() _ |

Not to mention that he's on pace for somewhere around 360 K's (in a 162-game season).
Never too early for those kind of projections.

I have yet to see a rookie in any of the 3 league in my Endor universe throw a No-No in his 1st game. I have never had it done in any OOTP league closet was 3rd start which was done by me on 12 for the Chicago Fire. Thats cool Blue.

Tks guys. He's actually not on my team. This league I'm playing spectator mode, and just kind of be a fan of not one particular team, but the entire league.
I shortlist a lot of players, but always the #1 pick in every draft. It's fun to see who makes it and who doesn't from that spot. I wrote a short piece on another awesome rookie here - http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...late-pick.html but this guy was a round 11 pick. Lots of fun just cheering for players and not any 1 team.

I think your post on your 11th round pick summed it up for me. Quote:
I feel these players in OOTP come alive more than say the 1st rounders and such, crazy I know but to me the nobodies in any of my leagues that pitch a shut out or hit the game winning home run become more than numbers on a screen. |

So he only throws a perfect Game 5 of the Championship to shift the momentum to his team. They went up 3-2 here and won game 6 on that momentum for the Title.

Borrett Gets 27 Smoke in a Row: It is a rarity in baseball -- A perfect game. One happens only once ever decade or so... Well, one happened today at Memphis Ballpark. Tim Borrett was devastating against the Milwaukee Smoke. 27 batters went to the plate and all 27 were retired. No runs, no hits, no errors, no walks and nobody left on base in the historic 1-0 Memphis victory. He struck out 12 in his epic performance.
At the postgame press conference, the Memphis pitcher was so excited he couldn't seem to sit still. His comments were helter-skelter, too. "I had everything going right for me in this one today... What a game!... What an experience!... Boy, the guys made some great plays!... I did it!... I did it!... Pitched a perfect game!... It's unbelievable!... I... uh... uh... hope my mom and dad were watching." Some occasions might just be too big for words... and the perfect game by Tim Borrett certainly appeared to be one of them. This season Borrett has compiled a 19-7 mark with a 1.95 ERA in 33 starts. |

![]() I was really going to lose it if this guy had followed up a debut no-no with a perfect game. Then I saw that the perfecto was in the playoffs, but still. What a moose. And a leader among men, I see. I like that. You may find it to be very significant to you over time.
