Team is underachieving...What do you do?

I have a team that has very good ratings all around in a non scouting league but their stats are just not matching up to their stars/past seasons rating. I'm curious to hear some strategic moves that managers make to shake things up and give players a new atmosphere where maybe they could strive.

If the underperformance is from the hitters, I'd generally trust to their abilities and chalk things up to a small sample size problem. If the underperformance is from your pitchers/defensive efficiency, then I'd double-check the defensive ratings of your position players. Stats not matching up to their stars/past ratings for pitchers in my experience is often related to having poor defenders behind them, particularly at SS or CF.

I don't play with player personalities/morale on, so I can't make any suggestions on that front.

Change the lineups. If that doesn't work, fire the manager. And if all else fails, trade your old guys for younger guys/prospects/draft picks. You can also make edits, if you don't consider that cheating.

Check for unpopular and/or unhappy players. Trade one or more of these for a player with good work ethic, high desire to win, and strong leadership.

Hitters....check splits.. And adjust lineups

Pitchers...set player strategy for quick hook.

wait

my team lost the world series, then the next year they were 19-32, on the bottom of the power rankings and my owner was pissed, then they won 15 straight and are 47-41. Anyway, just wait it out before you make any panic moves

Depends how far into the season you are & what your definition of underachieving is

hope they get transferred, and you stop caring about the team... don't make the mistake of ever picking another team

depending on how much they make, how i factor them for my future, likelihood of them turning things around quickly, etc., i will either waive and assign to AAA, trade them or just bench them

Every team goes through stretches of games in which they don't perform well, and where they perform better than what would be expected. A couple of things to do to attempt to turn things around are to keep an eye on who is hot at the time and who is cold. Don't just rely on the hot/cold indicators for this. Check players performance from the current week and last week. Also check rightly/lefty splits and try to find edges that way. If position players of yours isn't performing well try to platoon him until he begins to get on a roll. Check your strategy settings and tailor it to the makeup of the team. Something you want to avoid is to feel like you have to start making transactions to get things back on track again. More often than not you won't be satisfied with the outcome of knee jerk type transaction maneuvers.

The team is underachieving? Well, I think the answer obvious: burn it to the ground but making it look like an accident, then collecting the insurance.
