How do you force a manager to play a player at a certain position?

I know it is probably an easy fix, but I can't find it after quite a bit of time looking.

So, I set the position to where I want him to play and I set the lineup with the player at the position and still the computer manager plays them out of the position I want.

This is most frustrating in the minor leagues. I have a logjam at LF so I set one of my prospects at RF hoping he would at least be serviceable in a couple of months after spring training. Yet, the computer manager keeps playing him as a LFer.

But majors can be the same when I sim games. A guy will be rated at 1B at 11 and LF at 1 so he is my starting 1B. But, even when I don't put a player behind him on the depth chart, the computer manager puts him in LF and puts the guy I want to play on the bench.

Please help.

Action/set game strategy/force start.

Easy, just do what Billy Beane did to Art Howe, just trade whoever the manager keeps playing in front of him.

Is it possible that this was a depth chart and/or player fatigue causing the other player to start every 2 days?

I have never had the AI NOT force start a player whom I changed the player strats to be forced started at a certain position. And I use this feature ALOT in both single player and online leagues from rookie Ball all the way up to the ML level.

Also 7-day lineups will allow tyou to get a player into the position you desire

no it was clearly my Manager valuing different stuff than me at premium D position, I wanted the no bat all defence guy in, and manager disagreed. So he would start my forced start guy, and sit him the next game.
happened a few times..
I don't use the Depth chart, so the Manager would set his preferred guy as every 2 days, when I told him to set the depth...

No luck needed. Just make sure the depth chart setting doesn't override it. Set everything to "when starter tired".

Alternatively I use 7-day lineups and don't allow starting subs.

doesn't that defeat the purpose of having Forced Start? I also don't have to patience to go through the 7 teams to make all these adjustments every time I reset the players objective. I think it,s even worse at the MILB level, where I was the player to acquire D experience.. I feel if I have something called forced start it should respect it.

It happens:

Haven't seen in it OOTP14 yet, but that's because I no longer play GM-only; I play out every game myself. And if someone is playing as GM-only, they might not want to touch the depth charts or the 7-day lineups, because that's not the GM's role (that's how I viewed it).

I've never seen it not work. I was suggesting ways to make sure since you had another experience. I wasn't clear. Sorry
