When does the owner promote you?

I have gotten promoted each year, from A to AA to AAA, where I have been stuck now for about 5 years. Last season, I got a score of 101/100, which it said was the best score possible. I was still not promoted to run the major league team. My reputation as a manager says "Solid GM".

I do not remember exactly what part of the off-season I was promoted last time. The reason I want to know this is so that, at the end of the season I'm in now, if I haven't been promoted I can immediately look for a job elsewhere. If anyone knows the exact day when the game checks to see if you have been promoted, that would be very helpful.

I don't think you are promoted to the big leagues you have to actually accept a GM job.

I think this is the case also, at least I've never been promoted from AAA to the bigs.

Alright, so in that case... how do I get teams to offer me jobs in the big leagues? I have just won a AAA title in addition to coming in 2nd the previous year, am now in the post-season... every time I check job offers, it says that no teams are offering any jobs. Do I need to resign from my current job first?
