Weird question

I just purchased OOTP '14. I have played Strat-o-matic for over 30 years.
The options and details of OOTP are very impressive. Having only played a couple of exhibition games I still am concerned just how realistic the players
in OOTP perform to their particular stats for a given year. SOM may be "old school" but no one can doubt how realistic they duplicated a player's stats. Since OOTP does not have individual cards to view like SOM, it is hard to determine how realistic the duplication is until I put players thru an extended number of games.

Those of you that are OOTP vets -- do you feel you get a realistic simulation of
the players stats?

Yes, certainly. However, there are settings that you will learn which lock in historic player performances and remove the effects of randomness that are otherwise built into the game. That's done intentionally; some historical game players want EXACTITUDE and some want VERISIMILITUDE. There's a big difference, there.

Again, as I said in your other thread, you must have patience and be willing to learn much to get the most out of this game. If you do, though, you will be pleased with the results. I can almost guarantee that because, if you have the interest, fortitude, and smarts to learn this game, then you are among the ones for whom it was designed.
