Switch to Mac

I'm thinking about buying a new Mac. Are we able to transfer license to a Mac? How about game saves?

Don't do it.

All I ever hear from Mac users is how do I do this? How do I do that? This doesn't work for me. That doesn't work for me. Waaaa! Waaaaa! Waaaa!

So, I suggest sticking with a PC. Why fix what ain't broke?

Because Macs are upwards of 1000x better. It's like having Clayton Kershaw compared to Jamie Moyer. Both good, but one much younger and better.

To answer the OPs question, if you can license the game (I'm not sure about that, but I think everybody gets two licenses so if you can't get it to work, OOTD staff will help you out), all you have to do is literally copy and paste your ".lg" folder. You would need a flash drive or some sort of cloud service to transfer it.

Wait until OOTP15. That way you won't have problems converting between different file systems.

The game works perfectly fine on a Mac. The only thing you shouldn't do is purchase the game from the Apple Store because it doesn't come with certain MLB things because of licensing, and patches come out later through Apple. Otherwise, I highly recommend playing on a Mac.

EDIT: I see Ike answered the file transfer question before I did.

I have been using a mac since 2006...no problems....the only trial difference is the location of the files on mac. You need to find the "Library" folder.

If you're familiar with how a Mac works, you'll have no problem. If you're not, you'll have very few problems, and those will only be things you encounter with the differences between a Mac and a Windows machine. The game runs exactly the same when it comes to playing the actual game.

The only true problem I've seen Mac users have is that they can't find the folder where OOTP is saving all of the files. That's because Apple decided to hide that folder in the traditional folder displays. But there's a simple way to change that setting so that the Library folder (where all saved application data is stored on a Mac) is always displayed. Other than that, as long as you don't buy the game on the Apple store, you'll have no problems that are caused by being on a Mac and not on Windows.

I immediately changed that location to an external hard drive so I could save space and easily access it.

The only other thing I would point out is that Facegen feels different to me on the Mac. I made the switch to Mac with no problems at all (aside from having to figure out the file location thing), but Facegen pictures just seem darker on a Mac.

That makes a lot of sense actually. My jerseys seem a lot darker in-game than they do as files. I thought it was just OOTP and it did the same for everybody.

I can't comment on switching, but I can say I've used a MAC for OOTP and have been playing since OOTP...4? And I've had no problems. Currently works very well on a 2008 macbook pro.
