Rex Brothers certainly wins the biggest head award, in a landslide.

London Doctors, 2027, after the season. Just missed the playoffs for only the second time ever in 15 years of the league. Six-time champions. A big shakeup in late July led me to fire our longtime manager and pitching coach (manager was actually reassigned to a minor league team). A late-season hot streak led to 88-74 finish, still our worst record ever. Missed the wild card by a painfully close two games. Since a few guys had off years, and one of our best pitchers missed all but two games with an injury, and another got old in a hurry and was traded at midseason (he retired from a borderline HOF career after the season) 2028 still looks promising.
![]() My other season is a 1944-? St. Louis Browns scenario. Just finished 1945. Won the World Series over the Cardinals both seasons. Doing a "what if" scenario where Josh Gibson broke the color barrier in 1944, then Cool Papa Bell, Martin Dihigo, and Buck O'Neil joined the team in '45. Gibson was MVP both years, tying the Babe's HR record in his rookie campaign. Dihigo won the ROY in '45 with a hot first half (he cooled down and mostly platooned in the second half), while Bell and O'Neil are backups. Gibson and Vern Stephens are still going strong, but now that several players are coming back from WW2, the competition will be tougher next season. ![]() I really need to start some dynasty threads... |

what's wrong with those Browns photos? it looks like a team of zombies.
anyway, here are the disappointingly under .500 at 19-23 2058 Kenya Harambee Stars. their poor performance has put my job under fire. also me signing Enrique Valentin to a 3-year deal and he can barely keep a K/BB above 1 while having an ERA near 6

Meh, why not?
The 2019 Tampa Bay Rays. Fantastic team on paper, yet hovering just over .500 close to the All-Star Break. |

That's what happens when facegens are made from grainy old black & white photos.

It's what happen when facegens are made too quickly from old black & white photos by people who don't know how to use facegen very well, which was the case for most of the faces in the Historical faces pack ![]() I started a project a while ago to fix up some of those old faces and got some help, but it's slowed down now as I've been busy editing rosters and others have lost interest. Hopefully I can get going again in the not too distant future and get some more of those faces sorted. |

2016 San Diego Padres
![]() * not pictured DJ Davis (arguably my best player) Some requested acquisitions history Mark Montgomery & Cody Eppley Jul. 2013 Acquired OF Ichiro Suzuki, RP Mark Montgomery, RP Cody Eppley from New York (AL) in exchange for SP Edinson Volquez, 1B Jesus Guzman -Volquez was pitching awfully for me and had a big contract so I was desperately trying to move him. New York was really interested for some reason. I picked up Ichiro to try to push for the playoffs with hopes of making Montgomery & Eppley bullpen pieces for the following year. Montgomery has been lights out and is my current closer, Eppley took a little longer but has settled in nicely, Ichiro I ended up moving in the off-season to St. Louis for Fernando Salas who I packaged later that day for David Price. Volquez pitched relief for New York and was terrible, he is now a long relief man for San Francisco, Guzman yo-yos between AAA and New York as a fringe player. Aaron Loup & Marcus Stroman Jul. 2013 Acquired RP Aaron Loup, RP Marcus Stroman from Toronto in exchange for OF Reymond Fuentes, C John Baker, OF Jake Blackwood, RP Colin Rea -Was trying to solidify my bullpen at the deadline with Loup. Traded a backup catcher and a bunch of low level prospects and also received Stroman back who I thought was a phenomenal prospect. Loup has been outstanding since I acquired him, Stroman has just come up this season and has been fantastic, Fuentes is a fringe outfielder but spends most of his days in AAA, Rea hasnt played above A ball, the other players are out of baseball. David Price Nov. 2013 Acquired SP David Price & SP Grayson Garvin from Tampa Bay in exchange for SP Cory Luebke, RP Fernando Salas, C Jason Hagerty, SP Clayton Richards -Price was coming into his final contract year and initially wanted close to 30mil per year when i approached him about extending. I figured I could get one good year from him and make a playoff push or flip him at the deadline if we were too far back. We ended up having a very good start to the season and Price ended up signing for considerably less, 5 years $71.5 mil. Hagerty is still TB's starting catcher, Salas is now Minnesotas closer and the other players pitched awfully for TB then faded out of baseball. Joey Gallo Jul. 2013 Acquired 1B Joey Gallo & SP Cody Buckel from Texas in exchange for RF Chris Denorfia, SP Thad Weber, RP Mathew Wisler, SP Donn Roach, 3B Adam Buschini -I intially was looking to just move Denorfia because he was unhappy and not in my plans at all. Buckel is my 6th starter and has spot started for me over the past couple seasons and could make my rotation next year. Gallo has been on fire this year and won the starting 1B job from Yonder Alonso. Denorfia ended up playing two seasons for Texas before retiring, Bushini is playing for their AAA affiliate and doesnt look to be a big leaguer, Weber retired after one season of AA and the other two pitchers havent made it above A ball. Domonic Brown Dec. 2014 Acquired OF Domonic Brown from Philadelphia in exchange for OF Carlos Quentin -I was trying to dump Quentin's large contract and took a flyer on Brown. Brown started off slow but has hit .380 this year and his power is really starting come along. Quentin signed an extension with Philadelphia and has continued to put up big HR numbers and a sub-.230 avg. Hanley Ramirez Jul. 2015 Acquired 3B Hanley Ramirez from Los Angeles (NL) in exchange for OF Jeremy Baltz, 3B Terrian Arbet, OF Rhymer Liriano -I had let Chase Headley leave in free angecy in the off-season so I needed a power bat at 3B. I was unable to sign anybody in the off-season outside of acquiring Juan Francisco in a trade, who was better suited as a backup. Liriano ended up filing for free agency the next year and signed with Detroit, Arbet has seen his potential downgraded immensely and hasnt played above A ball, Baltz is in AAA and could be a platoon bat but doesnt figure to be a starter. Josh Bell Jun. 2016 Acquired OF Josh Bell & RP Leonard Watkins from Pittsburgh in exchange for 1B Yonder Alonso, SS Wilfredo Tovar, OF Alex Castellanos -Joey Gallos emergence and our small budget made Alonso expendable. I had a need at corner outfield and Pittsburgh was very high on Alonso so I moved him with the hope that Bell will platoon for now and develop into an everyday player. Watkins looks to be a very good relief prospect and is currently closing for my AAA. A lot of teams are high on Tovar for some reason but I dont see him making it out of AAA and Castellanos is a fringe MLB outfielder who cant hit. Signed through free agency: SP Maikel Cleto (2014), RP Jhan Marinez (2014) SS Jeudy Valdez (2014), 1B Neftali Soto (2014), SP Max Scherzer (2015) *Austin Hedges already plays for San Diego so I didn't have to acquire him.

Edit: I thought Hedges was better in my EBL league. He was drafted by the expansion Gotham City Batmen and while he has a good bat he is only a .230 hitter in 4 seasons with 15 total HR. You made some great trades.

I have Austin Hedges too. He is a great catcher behind the plate. He platoons with Jesus Montero for my 2015 Blue Jays.

What I said holds more for pre-WW1 players than later, especially 1930 onward. But even then, good photos can be hard to find for your cup-of-coffee types. But honestly, just the fact that so many people took the time to do all those facegens, makes the Facegen Project one of the best things in the history of OOTP Mods, in my opinion. Probably 9th (over 3000 career hits, several batting titles) or 7th (over 500 home runs). 5th, with multiple MVPs, and 11th with 250+ wins & over 4000 Ks, aren't bad either.

The 1977 Red Sox, who used the power found in their mighty mustaches to go a league-record 119-43 before dispatching Minnesota 3-1 for the pennant and Pittsburgh 4-1 in the World Series. I wish I had saved a team picture of this game's 1970 Padres, who finished a whopping 35-127 (expansion has made for some REALLY extreme W-L records); is there any way facegen can display the acute embarrassment those guys must have felt playing on that team?
As an aside, until I was writing this post I had no idea you could add facial hair onto historical facegens and have it work properly. I've always been super bothered that Dwight Evans appears sans 'stache...just found out I can add one on and give him the facial hair he deserves! I've added the fruits of my labor on the right. |
