How do you decide which players to trade for?

I'm relatively new to OOTP14 and am, to say the least, overwhelmed. In a recent offseason with the Indians, I was in the market for a starting pitcher, as my minor league prospects aren't ready for MLB and my current rotation is (with the exception of Clay Bucholtz) really weak. I decided to trade for another pitcher because I couldn't afford any decent free agents, but had absolutely no idea where to look for one, as there are so many possibilities and the trading block typically doesn't include that many players. How do more experienced players go about finding suitable players to trade for? Thanks!

Go to your shortlist, then there's a tab at the top of the screen that says Player Search.

Not to sound over simplistic but you have to do some legwork. Go search as the previous poster suggested or go team by team and look at their pitchers and find players you like. Maybe look for teams that have excess SP or need something you have to give. This is a big part of the fun, for me, of being the GM. I like scouring other teams looking for players I like and think would be a good fit.
