Dear SEBASTIAN : COSMETIC changes please !

With all the talk about fixing/updating the game's features on here (stats, drafts, leagues, players, trading, etc.), there seems to be a lack of discussion about fixing/changing the game's 'eye-candy'. Fixing the look of the game, if you will.

Sebastian, old sock, please give a thought to fixing/adding the following issues of the game, in the next updates, to make the game play more visually appealing for us out here. If the game looks good, the game play will look/feel better, as well.

To wit :

1.-Howzabout mentioning a goal scorers' current season goal total, after he scores a goal ?

(Play by Play example) :

'Sedin shoots, and scores !!!!! Goal number 13 for Sedin on the year'

2.-PLEASE get rid of the flags on the ice during game play. They are God-Fearing ugly. Especially when both teams have high shot totals ! LOL

Kindly replace them with a lone animated puck, showing the puck's movement and position on the ice, during the game.

3.-Facegen. Yes, this is needed badly. I play a fictional draft league and if I have to sit through every game looking at those 'literal' lines of clones, I know I will go crazy, eventually. I find it funny, at the moment, but I know that is going to start to change when I get to mid-season. Changing the screen helps, but gosh, those flags again on the alternate screen !

4.-Team Uniform/helmet colors. This is kinda tied in to the Facegen topic, but the clones really need to be dressed up in their team colors and uniforms.

5.-Finally, at least for now, COLOR play by play. Team color PBP, to be more exact, so we know what team is in possession, by the color of the text. Flags (!) should also be in the teams' colors ! But no more flags, please !!!!!!

Anyhoo, just my thoughts about the look of the game. I didn't really cover audio, but that isn't essential, right now. I know eventually we will be able to add our own goal sounds, etc.

I second this motion. Especially Facegen, for me that would make a huge difference. It was supposed to be in the release and then it was cut and said to be coming soon, and now there is almost never a mention of Facegen at all...

There is player pics and logo packs you can use that work great whoever made them really took there time to me its deff a must have till face gen is ready

Those don't help with newgens/fictional players, though.

Regarding the UI and graphical aspects of the game...

I won't say too much, because it comes from the testing/research forum, but to save Sebastian/Jeff some time in repeating what they already told us there...

The lady who works on the graphics and UI has been pretty busy with OOTP 15. Once she is free it's FHM's turn for some make-overs.

While we wait, go and try 'Heimspiel Handball Manager', and see that games UI, then come back to the dream world that is FHM

Hopefully they change the UI around so its similar to OOTP15... I know one is baseball and the other is hockey. I KNOW. But at least it flows and is user friendly

IIRC she only does graphic design. I think by UI we're referring more to the ease of navigation and the way things are laid out (e.g. the numerous clicks, awkward menus/navigation, unusual organisation of stats, etc). I think it'll be one of the many things that'll be down to Sebastian and Malte to work on, should they deem it necessary to fix.

Well, I've just seen the few sample pages she has done for OOTP15, and they are fantastic, so I hope she gets to work on FHM 'thisfast' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need an FHM cosmetic make-over STAT !!!!!!!!!!

It would be great if they made FHM in the same new style for sure! Very pretty indeed

At this point I think what they should do is just give up any ideas that they are able to design a fully functioning GUI themselves and just redesign the interface to emulate the EHM one as closely as possible and only then try and improvements and redesigns with that as a template.

I think some looks updates would be awesome! Maybe using stars instead of numbers for potential/ratings like in ootp14. Easier to do at a glace.

Not sure if we can or not, but a black skin for the game would be nice.

Also, a quick jump on the side like in ootp14 would be awesome.

Personal messages page also needs an update for looks.

Hmmm. Since Sebastian has not chimed in here, I guess no cosmetic changes coming in the next update or two.

I wouldn't necessarily say so. Sebastian has just crawled back into his hole eight days ago. There were times when he wasn't active here for six+ weeks. You could say we were blessed recently. But the effect of the uproar by people who demanded more communication has apparently worn off pretty quickly.

The game display and text-related things will be getting upgraded in the next patch. Facegen, unfortunately, is out of the picture until we can figure out a way to make it create decent hockey portraits (Francis has some ideas for the football game about how to use helmets to cover up the ugly hair issue, so we'll keep an eye on that for things that can help us.) Uniform colours would normally be tied to getting facegen working, but (especially if implementing facegen continues to be a problem) I can see us possibly separating the two so there's some kind of uniform display on the player, and maybe team, pages.
