Adding a player
Question for the DB guys...
if i want to add a player or players to an existing db, what are the steps one needs to follow, i think i am missing some aspect 1 go into the master, put in the new player info, including a "db name, ie something with the 01 after it" 2 place in lines for their hitting, fielding or pitching as required 3 now the problem. there must be something i have to do with the file labelled database historical. i see a list of names similar to the list that appears on the master. do i need to put the player on this list, or will having the player in steps 1 and 2 by itself do the trick? Thanks |

I found the easiest way to get that player database name is to go to Baseball-Reference.com - MLB Stats, Standings, Scores, History and look the player up.
Then look at the address bar and it will look like this: verlaju01.shtml Justin Verlander Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com This is Justin Verlander. The 01 is replaced with another number if their is another player that uses the same shortcut name. So it is the 1st 5 letters of their 1st name, followed by two from their 1st then the number.
