Spring Training Question
When I advance to Spring Training in my game, I notice the CPU automatically calls up players to my active roster that I don't want to have on my active roster as they are top prospects who aren't close to being ready. Is there a way to disable this option?

They are on your 40 man roster. Just send the back down right away.

curious why you wouldn't want to get a try. how many 40-man roster guys don't get an invite to ST?.. i'm actually more upset with fact the manager will often not play them and see how they handle the upper level of competition |

That's how roster rules work in real life. LGO can give us the specific details, but active rosters remain at 40 through spring training, which means anyone on the 40-man roster is active.

When you send them back down though, doesn't that use an option?

I thought you only used an 'option' if you spent 20 or more days(for that year) in the minor leagues?

Your active roster in the offseason is 40. The AI is not doing anything. You can set the game to do what you want but do you want to go through ST with 25 players or less?

The bigger issue that needs a fix is that AI teams automatically have all players on the 40-man roster called up September 1. This burns an option for all these players and is a huge advantage for a solo human player who can decide player by player.

they would use an option even if you didn't have them in ST. the option is because they are on a minor league roster AND 40-man roster at the same time. only way for you to not have them use an option, is remove from 40-man. actually having them on your ST could save you an option, if you decide to keep them on you ML roster at the start of the year. since I believe in OOTP they have an option charged if they spend one day of Active roster, INCLUDING ST |

to be precise, you must go through one day of SIM for the option to be charged. If you demote someone, and promote them back on Active roster the same day (which you can do in OOTP), no option will be charged. |

The only reason I asked was if the CPU was moving players automatically to my active roster when I didn't want them to and it wasted an option, I'd be kinda upset. lol

this is another point, AI would only do this if you give it the authority. what are your settings, because I don't remember ever having anyone moved to my active roster without my intervention. |

I don't have any issues. This isn't for me. I'm just sympathizing with Klew (OP).

Because this is what happens in real life. There is no 25-man roster during spring training. The 40-man roster is the active roster during spring training. That's the simplest way to describe it.

Another aspect of the real-life rules is that a player optioned to the minors cannot be recalled until the 10th day of the regular season (barring recalls for the purposes of injury replacement and the like). OOTP currently doesn't recreate this limitation. |
