Everyone sent to reserve roster is enraged!

This is my second try at this game. To make it easier, I'm playing a simple league with no minor leagues, just the team and a reserve roster. So when I draft players, I almost always send them to the reserve roster. And they all get angry. After six seasons, my reserve roster is now full of angry, angry players. Surely this can't be normal? Are they really expecting to get on a major league team fresh out of high school?? Why are they all so very angry? Is there any way I can placate them short of putting them on the lineup or paying them any money? (the league is having a big crunch and no team has any money to spend)

You can avoid this frustration entirely by turning off player morale in the global settings.

I use reserve rosters and this is what happens and I don't like it either. Sure, turning off morale is an option but I like this feature. Realistically, some guys will always feel they deserve to be playing no matter how bad or unready they are, but others should be happy just to have a contract and be on a roster.

Also, it seems that all the budgets in the league have been going down every season. They are now two-thirds of what they were originally and still going down, to the point that no team can hire any new free agents and the league is pretty much stagnating. Is that normal and are things going to get better eventually? For the sake of reference, I started the game in 1984 and am now going through 1992.

No, that is not normal.
1) How are teams revenue?
2) Are they operating at a loss? Why?
3) Are your media contracts and tickets prices increasing as salaries go up?
4) You may have to run through each teams finances screen in commish mode. Are the owners dipping heavily in teams money?

That is a start, check those things and post any more questions.

Good luck,
Tom

Yea it seems like every team has been operating at a loss, but the situation is slowly iimproving. I'm not sure why that is.

I had a similar observation as the OP but mine was due to spring training. I used to have a varied assortment of players I'd bring to spring training. And as it was over, I'd send people back down to the minors depending on their level, age, potential, etc. Every single one I'd send down, whether it be AAA or lower would be unhappy for the full season and beyond. Now, when spring training comes up, I only bring my anticipated ML roster and skip thru it to opening day rather than play thru it (which I used to do to learn about players and try out different lineups).

I guess as one person said, I could turn off morale but it seems like a neat feature and I like seeing it. Kind of reminds me of Tropico or a number of rpg's where we could look at people's morale and try to change it. But here, it just seems if a person is moved to a lower league, nothing short of promoting them again will ever work.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong and someone can guide me to do it another way. Thanks OP for letting me piggyback onto your question .

I bought this up a year or so ago.

I would start my historical league and end up with 80% of the league angry. At day one. Which makes no sense.

They added an option to zero out all morale.

So look in the league setup options. Should see something on the left of one of those screens to zero out morale or maybe it says reset morale.

It's in there somewhere.
