Seasonal Summary

For what it's worth, here is a sample of what I actually put together for two of my solo leagues. On the oldest league (34 seasons) I print this out and put it in a 3 ring binder - just to flip through or to look something up I don't remember. In the newer league (11 seasons) I load the PDF file onto my iPad and have it available that way.

I actually like the paper version better - but that's just me.

I know someone is going to ask what's wrong with the Almanac - and my answer is "nothing". The Almanac is an invaluable tool - but it is, after all, a detailed account of the entire season - NOT a summary.

This document is meant to document how the season progressed and have most of the highlights. This particular season didn't have a "5 alarm story" like a perfect game, but that would have been included had it happened.

Since all of this is already available in the game - my question to the OOTP Team is, "Wouldn't this be fairly easy to add as an option"? Maybe the bigger question is, "Is there anyone else out there that would appreciate this?"

That is so cool. I really hope OOTP takes a look at your creation and makes it a part of the game. Wow! The people that play this game simply amaze me with creativity.

I am going to copy this idea for another league. For me all I do is print up the Final standings and the award winners. Would love something like this in game even if it was not as detailed. Almanac takes too much time for a 2.6 GB league.

I like this idea and could use something like this for my league, since I sim entire seasons at once.

I save box scores from all postseason games, and from any tiebreaker games, plus any games that might occur on, say, the last weekend of the season that lead to deciding a pennant race. I also save the team batting and pitching reports from the postseason. Also, when I get around to it, I insert hyperlinks in the boxscores I've saved so I can quickly go from game one to game two, etc., and to the stats.

While I wouldn't expect the OP'd idea to include all of that, it would be great if all postseason boxscores (& accompanying stories) were part of this proposed summary.

Here is the 1902 Season summary of the GLBL. It's a bit cleaner than the earlier attempt. If something like this was available in OOTP in HTML, links to just about anything could be provided as one of the posters about mentioned - but I was just looking for something that could be printed out and added to a 3-ring binder to form and archive of the league in question.

Can you give me some tips on making something like this?

First, I have two(2) screens so I have room to lay this all out. I use Microsoft Word to format the document, and SnagIt to capture the screen sections.

I have OOTP loaded, play out a month, capture the portions of the game I need for the document, and use the FaceBook converter to text-capture the stories I need to use.

I play Jan 1st to Jan 1st which also gives me access to the Almanac data and baseball cards.

When it's all done in Word, I save it as a PDF file.

Big City, this is an excellent idea.

One part I really would like incorporated into the game is standings at the end of each month. It would be nice to see how a team's season progresses throughout the year. Monthly individual player leaderboards would be great, too.

A monthly recap and a season recap would be a great addition.

Playoff recap would really be nice, too.
