Player strategy fixed on 14
Debating on going to 14, but was wondering if player strategy is fixed for pitchers in this version
In 13 I could say I wanted Hoyt Wilhelm a MR but with his skills and stamina, he'd always be placed in the rotation, wherein I could make any position player a starter (even if the AI made his backup start every 2 games, making it essentially a platoon) Is this fixed for 14? I know they have expanded pitching roles, but w/o this changed I don't see a need to upgrade until 15

I can confirm that I have moved guys effectively out of the rotation with Strategy in OOTP14. of course to make things even more forced, I usually also tell my PC who should be the starter, so this may be why it works. (ie. I change 2+ pitchers strategy). let me do a test later just sending my top pitcher to BP. |

I have now moved my Top starter to reliever. he is now in BP.
however, since he is my best reliever, AI is setting him as Closer, so you might have to assign someone else as Closer if you want him as MR |

Side Note: In your other thread you mentioned Lou Gehrig. I know you meant if you are not in control of a team but I tried setting a guys injury rating to 0 with no backup. He got injured in season 3 of overuse and was regularly tired. Lou gerhig has never played more then 3 seasons consecutive without suffering from an injury. His injury rating and Cal's for that matter is too high in my opinion.

Injury rating I believe is randomly assigned along with personality
Could be wrong on that though. I had Everett Scott play 3 years of 154 games by making the game force start him and the player fatigue in my league was set to Low at the time. However, during year 4 another IF was pretty talented on his team, so instead of his previous backup being start when tired, his new backup was every 7 games...and you can't change it For Lou Gehrig, I always put him a '1' overall injury rating...0 I think is messing with the programming, so that may get him injured.
