QUESTION: Hard Salary Cap?
I was curious if it was possible to have a hard set salary cap in ootp14? I am trying to do a promotion/demotion league. I know the structure I want. I have three levels...figure id start with the hardest part, financials. I want hard cap because I want to set each to a different for each league.
Premier League ($120 Million) Development League ($105 Million) Semi-Pro League ($90 Million) I want it so teams cant go over. I have played around with it some and even player contract demands based on player level. I still keep getting teams going over cap. I want it to be permanent where you cant go over like the nfl. PS: I have other questions but will get to them later, such as: 1) Player creating (rookie draft pool...want Premier League to have better players then DL and SPL. 2) Schedule - Need a custom one....I need 4 day gaps put in so I can do a 1 Away/1 Home series games for a world cup style thing. 3) Is rule v draft and arbitration possible in a promotion/demotion league? 4) League Logos Probably some other things but not coming to mind at the moment. |

I have asked for a hard salary cap as well. No media contracts, no gate revenue.

So its not possible then i think that should be an option in the next version. If i cant is there a good way that anyone has found to make a good promotional/demotion league financials different for each league? With the better league having more money then the lowest league.

add a soft cap with a ridiculously high penalty percentage.

Almost forgot about arbitration. Needs to be turned off becuase that was a major reason my teams would not stay within the salary cap.

All suggest are appreciated guys. Take all the help...I just saw the association so I was looking into that. Ill try any ideas I can get to get this to work. As it would be pretty cool with some other twist I want to put into the regular season.

My favorite fictional setup is a hard cap and no trading. It makes every contract a much bigger deal. Teams can go over the salary cap, but the way this happens is through minor league deals becoming major league contracts, automatic renewals, and arbitration. A team can't sign free agents and can't sign extensions that will take them over the cap. It does function pretty well to keep an even playing field.
I've always preferred an NFL type even playing field, though some prefer seeing leagues where there are powerhouses throughout history and there are some that rarely compete. |
