I'd be interested in having a game-generated summary of each season kept in a history section. This would be mostly text. It would be an extension of the newspaper function already existing in the game. Perhaps appended to it might be key newspaper articles already generated by the game during the season.
The function of this summary would be to collect in a single place stuff worth remembering and, perhaps, to reveal odd or important events that otherwise might be overlooked.
Something like,
Quote:
The Baltimore Tops won the World Series, 4 to 2, over the Chicago Ferrymen. Player A lead the Tops in the series hitting 3 home runs and hitting .348. etc
In the regular season, the Baltimore Tops won the XX division in a close race with the Charlotte Bats. The Tops (67-50) just edged out the Bats' (66-51) and clinched the XX division only on the last day of the season when the Tops beat the Omaha Oilers 3-2 in a 14-inning game while the Bats lost to Springfield 9-3. etc.
Player B lead all batters with a .319 batting average while Player C hit 44 home runs to lead the league.... etc
Future Hall of Famer Player D suffered a career-ending injury in the 27th game of the season. [Here: the history can be revised retroactively each season to change and or add new information.] Among notable trades in the year was the swapping of Player E for 3 others players. Player F experienced an odd off-season injury when he suffered a hundred bee stings trying to show his son how to safely gather honey. He missed the first two months of the season. Player Z, who would go on to play in only 30 big league games in his career, managed to hit a home run in his first big league at bat. etc
Portland's Player G (14-10) stuck out 15 batters in a complete game victory over the Dallas Stampede on August 2, while first baseman Player H managed to strike out 5 times in a 12-inning game in July 14. Player J had a 23 game hitting streak that was ended on July 23 when he went 0-4. etc
Player K won the first of what would be three batter-of-the-year awards. Manager L retired after a 33-year career with 4 teams. His teams won XXX games and lost YYY games.
Season records set this year included....
