Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Ok this is probably a stupid question. I am now able to run OOTP rom Steam on Computer B. However all my leagues are on a different PC Computer A which is not using Steam. How do I get Computer B to use my lg files on Computer A? Is it just the same as having OOTP installed on 2 PC computers and I have to save/copy from Computer A to 'something' then copy from that 'something' to Computer B, then repeat to go back to A?????

I wouldn't call it trouble. Steam just doesn't offer anything new or beneficial to some people while others find it very beneficial. Much like OOTP, it's a "to each his own" type of thing.

What is it exactly that you think Steam does where it can read files off of a separate non-steam installation on a separate computer?

If the computers are networked, you could probably set things up so that the OOTP data folder is in a shared network folder. You could also probably use dropbox for that sort of thing. There's also SteamCloud (which would do exactly what you want, but not with a non-steam version of the game), but that's something the developer has to code for, I believe.

Of course this is the case, because it doesn't work any differently from how OOTP works now. If you have the game installed on two different computers, you have to shuttle the files between those computers to keep playing the same league. Seems like common sense to me.

The ideal thing to do here (and it's what I'm going to do) is to keep your league files on a flash drive. Keep the flash drive with you, always save to the flash drive, and if you change computers, Steam will port the installation files over for you, while you provide the league files. Simple.

Let's pump the breaks a little bit here, guys. There are people, myself included until just recently, who don't know anything about Steam and have no idea what it does or how it works. It's not unreasonable for someone to wonder if it stores game data on a cloud to make it accessible anywhere. This is happening with lots of things now (music, movies, documents) that people deal with in everyday life. So let's try to help people without the negativity.

Thanks. This is what I meant. I just thought it might be like a cloud. Now I realize it is not . Thats all.

That was kind of what I was hoping for, the game folders in the cloud...oh well, maybe in a few more years, for now I guess I will go the flash drive route, once I get home and see how BIG my ootp14 saved games folder is....

Steam does support cloud-based game saves, but as I mentioned I'm pretty sure that's something that has to be added by the developer. If you really want cloud-based OOTP, though, I'd seriously look into dropbox. The free 2GB plan should be plenty for most OOTP leagues.

Apologies if my post came across as harsh or negative; it was not intended to be.

If you want cloud storage ask for it.

I gave up all other games when I bought OOTP for the first time six years ago.

It shouldn't be. Sure, the initial transferring of files from your computer to your flash drive is going to take a while, but after that, you won't be moving the files off of the flash drive; you can just set up OOTP to use the directories on the flash drive instead of the default directories, and as long as the flash drive is plugged into the computer, saving will take the same amount of time it always has (maybe a little slower, due to it being an external drive, but not much).

You can play the game on any computer with steam. I do not know if Steam allows for an OOTP cloud save. Some games allow that and synch but I doubt the data is anywhere near as huge as it is in OOTP.

The advantage to Steam is once the key is entered you will never have to activate again. So if I buy a new computer, I can log into steam and it will download any or all of my games and reinstall with no need to activate them. So you never have to worry about losing a key again. Steam keeps all keys and if the game does require you to activate again, steam will provide your key. Now all my historical unis, leagues, etc. would have to be copied to the new computer which is no small task but the base game will never have to be activated again.

A cloud save would be the only to play your league on multiple computers without copying. Steam does have some cloud capability but I am not sure it can handle OOTP leagues given the size.

The only other difference in Steam is that for most games, it keeps track of all those achievements like OOTP now has. It gives you sort of a trophy collection.
