History of Coaching Staffs

I'm doing a historical simulation of Major League Baseball and I was wondering if anyone knows when batting coaches, pitching coaches, and team trainers became regular practice. Also are there any adverse affects of not having a team trainer (longer injuries or more injuries). You can check out my league in historical sims called the beginning of baseball.

I don't think you can not have a team trainer. I had a manager and pitching coach leave in my minor leagues and decided to wait to sign a new one and the AI hired them for me. I would assume if you don't hire a trainer the game will.

I have never tried to not have a trainer I am interested what effect it would have.

Although Arlie Latham (1909 Giants) is generally regarded as the first full-time coach, Jean Dubuc was a coach for the 1908 Reds. The practice was limited to a handful of teams in the teens. By 1921 15 of the 16 teams had coaches, the last holdout being the Robins (Dodgers) which first used a coach, Ivy Olson, in 1924.

Here's a list of the first coach for each team:

BOS - Jean Dubuc (1918)
BRO - Ivy Olson (1924)
BSN - Dick Rudolph (1921)
CHA - Kid Gleason (1912)
CHN - Oscar Dugey (1921)
CIN - Jean Dubuc (1908)
CLE - Germany Schaefer (1918)
DET - Deacon McGuire (1911)
NY1 - Arlie Latham (1909)
NYA - Tom Daly (1914)
PHA - Danny Murphy (1920)
PHI - Jesse Tannehill (1920)
PIT - Chick Fraser (1921)
SLA - Lefty Leifield (1921)
SLN - Charley O'Leary & Heinie Peitz (1913)
WS1 - Nick Altrock (1921)

I totally thought this thread was gonna be about a place for team history that showed coaching staffs, like the starting players/register of players pages.

This is a good idea I just thought of.
