And for FHM too. It had a very rocky release and is still of dubious quality but this will help.

This is step 1 out of 100 to get Markus that Porsche

And if Markus does one day get that Porsche. I promise I will pledge 100 Euros to getting it painted in a custom OOTPD livery
I'll join you in that.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Does OOTP have to request one? Can we?

I could be wrong but I believe it's the game developer that requests that a workshop be tied into their product.

Dear Santa/OOTP:

All I want for Christmas is an OOTP Workshop on Steam.

I noticed that OOTP is up on Steam now. Any more word on the information for those of us who bought the game and would like to install it through Steam?

We are working on that: Andreas is working on a tool that will let you enter your eSellerate info and then receive a Steam key. If you bought the game elsewhere (Amazon, GamersGate, etc.), you can contact us directly for a Steam key.

We'll make an announcement on the forum when the tool is online.

Thanks.

I bought it via GMG (Greenmangaming). So, I supose we are included? What do You need for confirmation - activation key provided from GMG?

I emailed them. They said GMG purchasers would be included in the tool.

I'd second that. I love OOTP despite not being a baseball fan at all and would love to write a review. Apparently you can only do that if you are registered as having bought the game, though.

Sorry, no update on the tool right now, but I know Andreas is working on it.

Wolf: We've talked about Workshop internally, and we all agree it would be great to use, but it comes down to the technical details as far as how it functions (the nuts-and-bolts code stuff), how we integrate OOTP into it, etc. I'd rather not speculate beyond that because I don't want to say one thing and then find out we're doing the other.

Good enough. Just keep reminding them that having a Workshop will increase both sales and visibility. I hope to see it in a version or two.

Thanks, Brad

I don't have OOTP14 but might buy it eventually.

I don't have a Steam account. I buy very few games these days, and every time I begin looking into what Steam is and how to use it, it seems to be more hassle than it's worth.

Is OOTP14 now available only via Steam?

Steam, more hassle than its worth???

Steam is brilliant and no hassle at all after the initial install and set up.

Your final question on OOTP's availability... it can be done as normal with or without steam.

As promised, you can now request a Steam key if you purchased OOTP 14 in 2013. No matter where you purchased it. Request your Steam key here: http://ootpsupport.com/steamkey/steamkey.php

Please note - this is only for OOTP 14 purchases made in 2013. We will very likely not provide extra Steam keys for OOTP 15.

We will NOT sell OOTP exclusively on Steam. We will still sell it on our own web store, on the Apple App Store and in other stores.
We just want to reach more people, that's why we are very happy to be on Steam now

Obviously, it's best for us if you purchase the game through our own web store or in-game

Thank you for the reply, Andreas. Of course it's very good to use whatever platform you can to reach more people. For me, OOTP Baseball is the 'gold standard' of sports management sims.

I'm happy to still have the option of purchasing through the OOTP web store, so the company will get a bigger share of my gaming dollars.

I'm happy to see that you guys have kept this optional. I'm a computer savvy guy and Steam hasn't given me many problems, but I still despise the concept and have never understood the appeal. I have Steam on my PC only because it is a requirement to play Football Manager 2012 and Mount and Blade, but I'll never trust any 3rd party software that stands between me and a game I paid for. Just can't buy into it.

There was a riot on the FM forums over Steam when it became mandatory.. I mean every other thread for about a month was some new person ranting about Steam. SI handled the complaints professionally, but it's good to see that OOTP developments won't make the same mistake.

Anyway, I'm not here to argue about Steam... I just want to add that whatever path you guys take with distribution of OOTP in future, please continue to give us multiple options so that everyone stays happy and remains a customer.
