Why is it not possible for you to locate the folders?

You do have the ability, but you don't know where to look, Sebastian gave you the right folder. The problem is if you are trying to navigate there from the hard-drive your Library folder is probably hidden.

There are two ways to get there, but one of them involves a terminal session to flip on the showing of hidden files and folders. The easier way is to do the following (I've tested this with OOTP which you apparently have, I'm assuming Sebastian has the same interface for FHM):

1.) Go to the OOTP or FHM main screen. Click Load Game.
2.) At the bottom there is an Open Folder button - Press this.
3.) You will see a finder window now, and you'll be in the saved_games directory. From here you can navigate throughout the game folders for one or both games.

I know I said I would take a break from posting but I just wanted to post and say thanks to Seb for starting his Developer Update Thread. I am glad it is a locked thread as this will allow him when he has time to update us on what he is working on and the future of the game without any unnecessary negativity.

I think it is a great step forward and commend him for starting the thread. If there are going to be responses then we as a community need to be more constructive about what we post. Its time to end the 'EHM is better' and 'the game is unplayable' nonsense. If the OOTP team are going to be more open with us it is time for us to give them a bit of credit and assistance where we can. When the new patch comes out suggest areas that can be improved and report any bugs, rather than shouting from the roof that the 'game is cr@p' and launching into tirades of criticism. Constructive dialogue between the community and the Dev Team is the only way forward and we could end up with a great game at the end of it regadless of whether it is FHM2014, FHM2015 or FHM2018.

Regards

Matt

I hope he can back his words. This thread was supposed to be an update thread, turns out after the first post it was never updated.

Well said Penfold75. What it seems to me is that most people tend to forget that all sports management games go thru an initial teething process and it takes years to develop from there.

I mean I can remember when I was introduced to Championship Manager 2 by a friend back in 1995. Yes, it was light years from what the latest version (FM2014) of that franchise is today but it had a great potential back them. But look at what it is today.

Same goes for the Eastside Hockey Manager. I'm talking about EHM before it became NHL EHM and got the backing of Sports Interactive. It took years for it to grow into EHM 2005 which was the first reasonable version released. I'm not counting EHM Franchise Edition yet it was released prior to EHM 2005 but it was way too buggy and had some serious misses in the AI.

Flaming, whining and shouting 'this sux' is easy but giving constructive criticism/feedback actually requires some grey matter.

It won't be much a of an "update" thread if he keeps to the habit of posting once a month :P

But I'm still hanging in there, eventually FHM will be a quality product ...

Great post, Matt. Thanks for making it. Very well said

I'm also glad to see you haven't taken a complete break from posting. While we haven't always agreed 100% on where FHM is and is heading, I have the greatest respect for your opinion and think it's clear that you are and will continue to be be an asset to this community. While I've been quite critical of some of those who have nothing but bad to say about FHM I've never lumped you in with those folks, even though we have disagreed a couple of times.

I look forward to continuing to see you around here in the future.

Small suggestion:

Everyone knows that in players profile by selecting contract you can see the year and number the player was drafted in. It'd be great if you could go to the specific years draft log screen by simply clicking this box:

It'd make managing so much easier and simplier. It's frustrating to go to league history screen all the time just to check a specific year the player was drafted in.

One great feature of EHM is the way each screen has so many valuable links to other screens.
If you're on a player page, you could click on his draft year and review the entire draft from that year. You could look at his last 10 games of scoring. You could click on any team in his history, etc.

Seb's Update

We still fix bugs as needed but what changed in the last few weeks was that we started to work on the game again. As I wrote earlier, we want to concentrate more on the main aspects of the game and make them as fun as possible to play (of course we will not forget all other areas, we will fix anything that needs to be fixed and most changes will effect e.g. historical or fictional as well).

About a month ago we sat down and discussed what areas needed a re-design to make them more fun
I wish they'd fix bugs and ease of gameplay issues and work on "fun" features for the next game.

As I said, we continue to fix bugs as needed. If you feel that some bugs are ignored by us, please feel free to send me a list or post them here as list so I can take a look.

Seb, per the instructions on the bug reporting thread, I've posted everything in the Bug forum.

I looked up your 8 posts in the bug thread:

Your 3 posts regarding (historical?) drafts are not a bug, "only" player that have at least 1 GP in the NHL/WHA are present (everything else is just not possible) so (depending on your settings) the draft can contain only a handfull (or no) player.

The 4th (MVP Voting) I would not call a bug (but tweaking the calculation is of course in need).

The 5th: "Playing in 73-74, can't dress more than 19 players.
Next season, 75-75, can't dress more than 18."

Thats not a bug, both limits are rules in the years (19 in 73/74, 18 in 74/75).

6th: "Can't click the two-way contract button"

It would help us a lot to get a bit more info on that, maybe it is just a misunderstanding and not a bug like above? Maybe you can write a bit more about it.

The last two: the crashes. This are of course bugs. Obviously they are not common (otherwise more people would report them) so I guess it is some setting you use. If possible I would need your saves to check them out (and fix them).

You can also go into the Finder, click the Go menu, and hold down the Option key - you will see the hidden Library folder appear there and you can now click it. (For fun, you can press and depress the Option key while the Go menu is clicked and watch the Library folder appear and disappear - whee!)

The Terminal method turns it on so it's always there, but if you'd rather not muck around with a command line interface (few do anymore), the Option key is a good shortcut, since you probably don't need to go into your Library folder very often (and then you don't need to keep loading the game just to go there).

Hi,
I would like first to thank Sebastian for the update about what you guys are working on.
I'm om board since beta and i've been rather disappointed last few months, not so much about the game not being perfect but mostly because of the updates not fixing anything that matters to me (by that i mean, drafting, scouting, in-game, tactic -tweaking etc) ... as i've mentioned before, i don't care about historical or custom play, i just want career play to work.
Now i see that you are working on what i call the basics and i'm very happy with it, and i am ready to wait until you are ready.
I've not been one of the most critical in the forums, just "thanked" a couple of those incendiary posts (mostly out of frustration). But I wanted to say now that communication is a bit better between you guys and us customers : Keep on going, i will continue to support you, there is no way i will ask for a refund, i will wait patiently until the update is done!

Laurent

Sorry folks my posting break hasn't lasted long and I found myself needing to post again.

Just read the latest Developer Update from Seb. The new training and attribute development system sounds pretty good to me.

If the other improvements are quite as impressive I am looking forward to the next patch. Sounds like good strides forward are being made

Now back to my FHM Posters Anonymous meeting.

I'm patient, like a GM that's patient with his late first rounder, I know this will be great but it requires lots of time.
