Extremely slow sim speed since the patch
Ever since I patched the game my main league, which admittedly has always pushed the boundaries of what OOTP is capable of, has slowed to a speed that makes OOTP unplayable. It takes more than 8 minutes (no exaggeration, that's what my screensaver is set to and it kicks in by then) for it to sim even one day. This is dramatically different than what had been taking place before I patched the game.
I don't know if something in the patch caused AI evaluation time to increase dramatically but I simply can do nothing with this game. |

I'm on Windows. I've tried virtually everything - deleting numerous retired players that needed to be gone, using the purge tool, deleting all excess game files (non-player texts, game logs, messages, etc) and nothing helps at all. As we speak I am still looking at about a 10 minute cycle on my laptop while I type on my desktop.
We are talking about a setup including 150 major league teams and feeders, which was never an instantaneous sim, but the difference since the patch is beyond dramatic. If it had taken anywhere close to 10 minutes this setup would have never gone anywhere. During testing I could sim 25-30 game years in a day. |

How easy is it to downgrade the patch? Also, will I experience any issues from taking a saved game backwards into previous game versions?

Please be careful and remember to backup any files you have altered because it will write-over stuff like the database etc. I think your .lg file will be OK, but I'm not 100% sure so don't go on my say-so. Allow someone who's more knowledgeable just to be on the safe side of things because you have a long running league, and I would hate to be the jack*** that ruined it for you.

No worries, I have a backup. I also have a separate pc running the game before the last patch, so I'm going to copy it over and test it out. I can't remember where the last backup I had before the last patch was installed is, and that worries me.

Playing the same saved game on the last patch didn't fix the sim speed. I will see when my last in-game restore was and see if that helps anything.

On the patch I recommended? Dagnab it! I wish I could help you, but your .lg file sounds like it's be way bigger than mine.

I think something got corrupted somehow. It still simmed but obviously at far below a snail's pace. I've already reset and gone with the version from year past and undid my draft blunder that set my franchise back 3 years.
