Will emails be sent out for the Steam keys or how is that being done?

Yeah, any info on how to get the Steam key for my pre-purchased copy would be awesome. Got it from GMG forever ago.

So... I haven't used Steam in a couple of years. Bought a big Half-Life game pack with a bunch of different mods when it went on sale, and never got around to playing half of them.

But how will OOTP work via Steam? Does only part of the game get downloaded locally? Would I not be able to play the game offline?

Sorry if these are dumb questions - if they've been addressed somewhere else please just point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

It will all be downloaded locally. You should be able to play it offline.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Re: Steam keys for existing users, we're still working on getting that set up, I just talked to Andreas about it a minute ago. Valve will provide us with as many as we need, that's not an issue; Andreas is just working on putting together an automated system based on emails and order numbers, but if that doesn't come together quickly enough (i.e., within the next few days), we'll just do it manually via email until it's ready. I'll update you guys as soon as we know more. Sorry it wasn't ready on Steam release day, but the approval happened a little sooner than we expected and we've been scrambling to get everything in place ASAP.

On Android would be fantastic. Don't own an Ipad and have no plans to get one.

I second this. My Galaxy S4 just looks empty with only Assassin's Creed: Pirates, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises to play on it. Even after adding Max Payne and GTA III, I still need an excellent sports game for it and they're just aren't many available on mobile.

Obviously this is a good business move, so congrats.

I have a question for anyone who understands Steam, though. What does this mean other than a distribution platform? How is it different than downloading the old way and playing it?

(Side-note... I don't play videogames. The only game on my computer is OOTP and some downloaded programs so I can play poker on-line.)

(Second side-note... I am Canadian so that last side-note was perfectly legal.)

Nothing. It's exactly like what you said, Steam is just another distribution platform. If you don't already have Steam and you do have OOTP there's no real reason to download Steam, just to get OOTP.

And, maybe, a Steam Workshop for mods.

First thing's first. Since I'm new I want to say hi to everyone.

Second; two great things happened in last month - I saw OOTP14 on some online store webpage and I bought it without hesitations (glad I did that ) and now the game will be available on Steam. Glad that I'm one of those many enthusiasts who voted for it. The game is great and just wanted to let all of You guys to know, that You have at least one fan in Slovenia - yeah, we play baseball even in a small country like Slovenia too.

Keep up the good work and congrats on Your Steam deal!

Maybe a question regarding Steam key - Steam allready has a possibility to add a non steam game to My library. What would be the difference if I would just simply add my OOTP14 via this method vs the key You provide us after finalising the words with Steam?

This is absolutely fantastic. This is the biggest thing to happen to the game since the code rewrite for OOTP 7

And for FHM too. It had a very rocky release and is still of dubious quality but this will help.

This is step 1 out of 100 to get Markus that Porsche

And if Markus does one day get that Porsche. I promise I will pledge 100 Euros to getting it painted in a custom OOTPD livery

All the adding a non steam game does is put a link in your library to launch the game. It wont get updated by steam and I don't know if the workshop would work with it.
