Pittsburgh Sends Walker to Washington
Monday, July 30th, 1923
A trade was announced today at a press conference in Pittsburgh. Not satisfied with their current roster, the Pittsburgh Pirates general manager shook things up by acquiring 26-year-old reliever Larry Duff from the Washington Senators for 35-year-old center fielder Tillie Walker. The Pirates general manager said, "We're a better team now. We've added several pieces to the puzzle."

In his 1193-game career Walker is hitting .278 with 1130 hits, 77 home runs, 564 runs scored and 540 RBIs.

Since he broke in, Duff has picked up 1 win, 2 losses and 3 saves. He has posted a 5.76 ERA and recorded 20 strikeouts in 50 innings.

If we can keep him off the DL he will get to 250 wins and 500 HR I'm sure, 1921 he was having a Monster Season before he broke his kneecap on May 22nd and missed the rest of the year.1922 he missed 7 weeks with 4 different nagging injuries. Hopefully he will put it all together this year and get 20+ wins and 40+ HR

Sox Lose 2 in a row to end July.

A 20-8 July Record has them 1 1/2 games ahead of the "other Sox" going into the Dog days of August

Here is what Ruth is doing in my Replay League where I take over the last place team until I win the Series, then move on to the current last place team. I do play out all my games.

I drafted Ruth with the #5 pick in 1913 for the White Sox. I left the Sox in 1916. I traded for Ruth in 1925 where he had a monstrous season for my A's. I then traded for him in 1926 as the manager of the Indians. I moved on to the Phillies in 1927 while Ruth continues to plow along. Ruth has accumulated 12 MVP awards and 3 Triple Crowns, 1925, 1929, and 1930.

As you can see, I HAD to switch him to a full-time hitter as he was getting lit up as a pitcher.

In my opinion, the greatest player to ever play the game.
