Win Now, Win Often: A Story of the LA Dodgers

It has been 24 years and counting, since the Dodgers of Los Angeles have won, or made it to, the World Series. Since then, the Boys in Blue have finished at the top of the NL West and advanced to the postseason six times. However, it wasn't until 2004 when the Dodgers even won a game in October, when they lost to the Cardinals 3-1. Previously, the Dodgers were swept 3-0 by the Reds in 1995, and then by the Braves in 1996. In 2006, the Dodgers once again were eliminated from the postseason in three straight games by the Mets.

Finally, in 2008, the Dodgers swept away the Cubs in the first round to advance on to the franchise's first NLCS appearance since 1985. However, they only managed one win against the Phillies before bowing out once again. The next season, the Dodgers faced the Cardinals in the NLDS and again swept their opponents 3-0, but once again, they were tasked with having to defeat the Phillies before they would be able to advance to the World Series; the Dodgers again lost 4-1.

In the three years since then, the Dodgers have posted three consecutive 80-win seasons but have been unable to advance past the regular season. This is where I come in. I'll be joining the Dodgers' franchise as of immediately and dealing with the major league team. I'm not going to beat around the bush and come up with a story about why Ned Colletti isn't running the team anymore. I'm not that much of a creative writer.

I'll leave most of the duties relating to managing the minor league affiliates to the rest of my staff. Please, hop on and enjoy the ride, as I hope to be successful to guiding this team back towards multiple World Series appearances and victories.

Great start. Sometimes it's nice to see a big budget team instead of a small market team. I noticed you said the Dodgers haven't been to the NLCS since 1985. Will this be an alternate history?

I did? No, it's not alternate history, sorry. By the way, I am kind of a perfectionist so still quietly experimenting with the best method to present it here in forum format.

Guess I shouldn't have jumped the gun in rushing this post out. Now I have a follower, I feel guilty.

Maybe I should just post something when I am off work tonight. Something is definitely better than nothing, right? I guess I will let the comments decide kn how in-depth I will go into my game.

I think it's better to get stuff out there rather than wait. You're off to a great start. I know the Dodgers went to the NLCS in '88 only because that's the year they beat my A's in the World Series.

And that's the last time I care to mention that...

THIS IS AWESOME!

You're doing exactly what I am doing the only difference is I don't have the ability to come up with an entertaining dynasty report as I dread writing. I've currently finished the 2014 season. I have made the playoffs both 2013 & 2014 where I have lost in the NLCS both years . Magic Johnson is getting pretty frustrated with my ability to close the deal. It's been an exciting run with my players and I've done a TON of trades and acquisitions. I know this goes without saying, but I have more money then I really need so that's never an issue it. In 2014 to get into the playoffs myself (Dodgers), Giants, and Dbacks were all 91-70 with one game left! It was a crazy finish with the Giants beating me in the NLCS and then they went on to with the World Series. Good luck man and I'll be following this report closely

Sorry to let you down. I've been working full-time now, and also still trying to figure out how to post this. I don't want to go too detailed, but I don't want to make time pass too fast.

Actually, while I was deciding how to present it as a dynasty report, I have now ended up playing to the end of the 2013 regular season, just before playoffs start. This makes it EVEN harder to go back and post about stuff from the start of the season...

Your 1985 comment notwithstanding. The Dodgers have played in the NLCS in 2009, 2008 & of course won it all in 1988. They won a playoff game in 2004.

Yeah, I re-read it again carefully and I had no idea what I was thinking. I had Wikipedia open right beside me when I wrote that and I still end up screwing it up... Anyways, since this thread is now more discussion than my dynasty report, you seem to have good dynasty reports.

What is a good way to present them, when I've already played almost the entire season before writing anything...
