I alluded to the point by saying that choices eventually could lead to free agency because I didn't want to be too long-winded. This is accurate and concise though, so thank you.
In thinking about the repercussions of not allowing outrighted players to choose free agency, I agree it does make a big deal. I would like if updated versions/patches addressed things like this, rather than the refinement of the decision engine. That being said, each edition is an improvement over the last and I am most definitely hooked on the game. |

Alright - I just had an odd arbitration related issue pop up in my league and it may be related to what you were seeing.
I had two players on my team who I had signed to minor league contracts at the beginning of the season. In mid-September, I added the two players to my expanded rosters, even though I knew they were both arb. eligible. But as it turned out, I never played them at all during the season. I figured I'd just non-tender them when the season was over. When the offseason rolled around and I went to my arbitration screen, those two players were already not being offered a contract. I thought, "Well, good job AI - you anticipated I was going to do that." So when the hearings rolled around, I checked my transaction log, figuring those two players would become FAs like the other players I non-tendered - but those two players were still on my team - with minor league contracts, even though they were still on my major league roster! It sounds a lot like what happened with the player you acquired, so I do dare say this might be an issue. |
