Lineup Frustration

I'm sitting in September with the playoffs rolling around with a 74-61 record. I have the Los Angels Dodgers (excellent talent) and can't seem to get one of my players even approaching 100 RBIs and I'm playing with one of the most talent offense wise in the league. In 2013 my highest RBI total was from A-gone and that was only at 84. Anything you guys would change in my lineup?? Anything you see I'm doing wrong??

This season 2014 and the season is in September.

No one on your team has a ton of RBI because everyone on your team is playing well and they all have above average amounts of RBI. Your top 6 RBI guys are all within 16, and this is basically unheard of. It's just a very balanced lineup.

This is the way you want it, individual RBI is one of the most overrated stats around. Don't worry about cracking 100 RBI with a single player.

I never looked at it that way. I just figured it was how I was setting my lineup. I normally like to have the lead off be the guy with a mix of speed/OBP. I'm fortunate enough I can put a power hitter in the 3,4, and 5th position lol.

He's not a starter. His best defensive position is 1B and A-gone is obviously there. I use him and Kubel strictly for the bat. A-gone was hurt for awhile so he stepped into the 1B spot and just didn't hit well at all. Right now I'm going with Kubel in the DH because he's the hotter hand. I think he's just in a major slump

Just curious, did you do a fantasy draft to start the league?

Negative. Just trades. I've given up some prospects. I started the league with OOTP regular roster in 2013 and I've made my way to 2014 and almost to the playoffs.

What about switching Puig & Wheeler vs RHP?

I'm glad you noticed that as well. Wheeler has the 3rd highest OBP on my team and second against RHP. I guess the reason I never really pulled the trigger on having Wheeler lead off is his speed and base running ability are just below average. What factors or attributes do you like to factor as your lead-off guy?

-I just switched the two to give it a go because I was debating that, but now I have some assurance lol

I like my leadoff guy to have a high OBP.

Obviously the speed/OBP combo is ideal in the leadoff spot, but if I have to choose one it will be OBP 10 times out of 10

Also consider none of your players hit HR. That alone reduces expected RBI. Based on 125 games (my guess) your leading HR hitter will have 22-23. I checked my league and only three players under 30 HR had more than 100 RBI. Just for fun I checked 73 players with HR totals from 25 to 15 and the average RBI total was 70.

While I do love speed guys that are a threat to run, being able to get on base is #1. You have good power throughout your lineup and Wheeler has a higher OBP then Puig. Wheeler might be more effective since he doesn't strike out as much. The only problem you might run into is GIDP with your #2 hitter.
