Hadn't considered the 'veteran presence' - good point. Fingers crossed.

I so want Robinson Cano to sign with someone, so I can quit worrying about the Tigers signing him.

Whew!!! Cano just signed with the Mariners. I can breath again. Now if the Tigers have an urge to spend, I hope it's on Choo.

Living in Shreveport, the Astros are my adopted second favorite team to root for. I just hate the fact that they are in the American League now. |

QFT. Choo would be perfect hitting first or second. The problem when he was with the Indians was they needed him to be a superstar. The last year when they moved him up to leadoff, he did nothing but walk and pound balls to the left center field gap. I didn't see him much with the Reds, but I assume he would still fit well.

Looks like Rajai Davis is soon to be a Tiger. This might be an alright signing. Dude has serious speed and combined with Kinsler gives the Tigers 2 guys that can steal 20+ bases. That's 2 more than they have had for years. Davis has trouble hitting right handed pitching and doesn't sport the best OBP, so it looks like it's a platoon with Dirks. Not official yet, but looks like it's going to happen.

With the Tigers picking up all this defense and speed the offseason it makes me wonder how much Ausmus has influenced these choices. I wonder if he prefers more small ball and that's why they're going the way they're going.

I like small ball and think that was one of the areas we were really lacking when competing against good teams and especially in close games. I really don't like what we got in return for Fister but I hope DD proves me wrong. |

Rajai in a platoon situation though would be nice. He crushes left handed pitching. He also offers some nice speed off the bench late in games. Something the Tigers have lacked lately.

Brad Ausmus is one of my favorites. I'm so glad he has gotten this chance. I;ll be pulling for the Tigers this year with him at the helm. |

9.0 SO/9 in his career. Although he hasn't been worth more than 1.0 WAR since 2009, I still think a 1 year gamble on him at that price isn't bad. If he comes out pitching like his 22 year old self, that could end up being a steal.

My thoughts on Max Scherzer: I think the Tigers would like to keep him, but I think they're willing to let him go. He had a great year last year and has a couple of good years previously. But, can he reproduce what he did last year? That's really what I think the Tigers are wondering. I think that Scott Boras (Max's agent) is pushing for more than the Tigers are willing to pay because the Tigers aren't sure that Max is going to be worth the money Boras is asking for. This year will prove either the Tigers or Boras wrong.
