Man, you don't know the half of it. That was my favorite fight so far and after I clicked out of it I got the notice that Mike Perez has reached End career stage. Right down to the wire. Now I'm torn between trying to protect him and have a guy retire as champion(no easy task at end) and just plugging along. I like having a World Champion, but fragmenting and building to another one is right up the alley of Boxing history. I'll have to see what's what in August.

He won with his last throw of the dice then.

Yeah it's a tough one with what way to go. Maybe at this point of his career, it's as you say, protect him or let him chase the money, the biggest fight out there and cash out.

(2nd Defense)

After a slow opening round Solis staggered the champion twice in round two with lead right hands. They fought evenly in the third but Thompson's jab drew nasty swelling from the Cubans left eye. Early in round four a short uppercut buckled Odlanier's legs and the champion poured it on with both hands until a four punch salvo drove Solis' neck limp and the referee jumped in between them.


Chris Arreola 31-3-1 (27) vs Calvin Brock 25-2 (21)

Brock pounded Chris with nasty counters in a dominant opening round, and, while Arreola upped his pace to lead to several high octane stanza's, the speed of Calvin was too much and he dropped the former champion in round nine en route to an impressive UD for the banker. 119-110, 118-111 & 118-113


David Price 47-13-1 (39) vs Rene Dettweiler 29-5-2 (10)

The biggest fight of Rene's career was an unusual Price fight that lacked action, but that won't hurt Dettweiler's feelings as he won a SD to move into contention for a title shot. 97-95, 95-96 & 96-95


Tyson Fury 35-8-6 (25) vs Alexander Ustinov 35-10-1 (25)

Fury struggled early and the Russian floored him in round three with a big overhand right but Tyson showed off his ever present guts and battled back to hurt Ustinov several times on his way to a UD. 97-92, 96-94 & 95-94


Marco Huck 31-6-2 (21) vs Sam Peter 23-5-1 (17)

Huck was one step ahead of the Nigerian for the entire opening round, sticking jabs and landing right hands while Peter looked to have the enthusiasm of a stoner in class the period after lunch. Early in round two Sam landed a thunderous right hand and he jumped on his smaller rival with a vengeance; battering Marco until the referee rescued the German when he was out on his feet in the corner.

Fabio Maldonado vs DaVarryl Williamson 23-2 (22)

They measured each other in the opening round before Fabio scored with clean right hands in the second round that hurt DaVarryl and brought swelling to his left eye. Maldonado also controlled round three but in the fourth a booming right hand put the Brazilian down and 'Touch Of Sleep' nearly put Fabio to sleep with a follow up assault.

Maldonado stormed back in the increasingly violent contest by rocking DaVarryl with a crushing uppercut and battering him during a dominant fifth round. After a slow round six, Williamson put Maldonado down with a right hand early in round seven and he finished him off with a barrage of shots later in the round.


Seth Mitchell 47-8 (40) vs Martin Rogan 32-4-1 (19)

They went back and forth over the first eight rounds with both men being staggered several times during furious trades. Rogan was left with a badly damaged left eye and Mitchell used the blind spot to score with hard right hands over the final two rounds that enabled him to secure the UD. 96-94 x3


Eric Kirkland 21-0 (13) vs Mariusz Wach 27-12-1 (17)

Kirkland floored Wach late in the second with a hard right hand and he finished the job early in the third with a brutal three punch combo. Many are calling for mariusz to call it a day after his fifth consecutive defeat.


Erkan Teper 48-13 (33) vs Sinan Samil Sam 16-0-1 (8)

Sam had a huge opening round and dominated the second until Teper dropped him late in the round with a right hand. Sam showed his resolve by dropping Erkan with a hook in the third and dominating the contest until a vicious right hand put Teper down and out in round eight.


Dominick Guinn 20-1-1 (10) vs Lateef Kayode 38-12-2 (23)

Guinn started quickly and opened a cut over kayode's right eye in round two. Lateef came back and looked in control when he opened a gash over Dominick's left eye in round seven but the 'Southern Disaster' showed a lot of resolve and he dominated Lateef down the stretch to earn the UD. 97-94 x2 & 96-95


Kubrat Pulev 47-11-1 (23) vs Vladimir Virchis 17-1 (15)

Pulev used all of his guile in the early going to navigate some difficult situations presented from his powerful young opponent and that same experience allowed him to counter brilliantly and he floored Virchis in the fifth with a beautiful combo. Vladimir refused to yield and his power and constant pressure caused the former champion to wilt enough for Virchis to dominate down the stretch and win a hard fought UD. 96-93 & 96-94 x2

Steve Cunningham 23-0 (5) vs Calvin Brock 26-2 (21)

After Steve boxed well in the opening round, Calvin dropped him late in round two with a right hand and again early in the third with a hook. USS survived a brutal beating during the remainder of round three and in the fourth he fought on even terms, just before the bell Calvin ate a hard jab that opened a gash over his right eye.

Calvin shrugged off the cut and dropped Cunningham twice more in round five with devastating hooks during a brutal round of punishment for Cunningham(4-34). Brock was arm weary heading into the sixth and Steve showed tremendous resolve by taking the fight to Calvin and pounding him with hard hooks and right hands in a dominant stanza(23-0).

The pace subsided and that suited Cunningham who used his long jab to keep Brock at bay for large portions of the rounds, he was winning the final round when, with eight seconds left, Brock connected with a winging hook that dropped Steve for the fifth time and cemented Brock's UD, but they don't come any tougher when you drop your opponent five times, 116-107, 115-108 & 114-109


Magomed Abdusalamov 45-8-2 (32) vs Denis Boytsov 35-4-1 (24)

Madomed controlled the opening round before flooring Denis early in the second with a nasty right hook, he hammered Boytsov for the remainder of the round and the majority of the third as well. Early in the fourth Denis connected with a searing right hand that buckled the former champions legs, Boytsov poured it on with both hands until Abdusalamov slumped into the referees waiting arms for a thrilling come from behind TKO.


Luis Ortiz 44-10-2 (26) vs Bermane Stiverne 30-9 (24)

While both of these guys are considered past their best, they put on quite a war. After the Cuban took the first round with crushing hooks to the body and head they went toe to toe in a second round that saw both of them badly hurt(15-18). Early in round three Stiverne floored the former champion with a booming right hand and he dropped him for a nine count late in the round with an uppercut.

Never short on courage, Ortiz went right at the Canadian in the fourth and he stunned him with a straight left and followed up with several hooks that left Bermane with a rapidly swelling left eye. They went at it on even terms over the next six minutes with neither guy taking a backward step.

Stiverne turned it his way in the seventh when he scored two more knockdowns with right hands, the second one had Luis flat on his back but he doggedly regained his feet at nine to hear the bell. After a slow eighth that saw them both conserve energy, Ortiz launched a rally in the final two rounds and he had Stiverne cornered for the final twenty seconds of the grueling bout. Alas, four knockdowns was too much to overcome and Stiverne reemerged in the title picture with a vicious MD. 96-90, 95-91 & 93-93


Oleg Platov 23-4-1 (7) vs Sam Peter 24-5-1 (18)

Platov has been campaigning for a bigger fight and he looked out-classed in the opening round as Peter scored with big right hands, one of which opened a gash on Oleg's left eyebrow. Platov shook off the nerves and engaged the Nigerian in a brutal second round where they repeatedly tagged each other with huge right hands (19-21). Sam began to tire and Oleg put a brutal beating on him, including two 30pt rounds, with jabs and punishing right hands that had both of Sam's eyes closing. It was remarkable that Peter never went down, but Oleg was extremely impressive taking a wide UD. 99-90 & 98-91 x2


Tye Fields 18-0 (14) vs Sebastian Ceballos 25-10-3 (12)

The gigantic American looked impressive, dropping Ceballos with an uppercut early in round one and teeing off until the ref stepped in less than two minutes after the opening bell.

Rene Dettweiler, he's had some good results and is inside the top 30. Not too many guys coming off of wins that were deserving. All three champs are taking on lesser guys next month.

(3rd Defense)

That totally changed the fight as Thompson dropped the challenger in round four and dominated until he dropped him again in round nine with an uppercut and flurried until the ref stepped in.

Rematch: D10

Eddie put on the best performance of his career, drilling Witherspoon with hard right hands behind his stinging jabs that had both eyes swelling after two dominant rounds. A triple jab opened a gash over Chazz' right eye early in the third and the crimson was the cause of an immediate stoppage.


Tye Fields 19-0 (15) vs Derric Rossy 29-7-2 (12)

Fields used his size and clubbing power to keep Rossy on the defensive for much of the contest, a wicked uppercut dropped Derric in the third and with the exception of a nice rally by Rossy in rounds seven and eight, Tye had control and walked away with the UD. 99-91, 98-92 & 96-93


Audley Harrison 19-3 (17) vs Garret Simon 42-16-2 (24)

Audley was cut over his left eye in the opening round, but he rebounded by flooring Simon in the second with a straight left and then again in the fourth with an uppercut, the ref stepped in early in round five after Harrison cornered Simon and unleashed several powerful left hands.

I fear for Harrison when he goes in with anybody who presents a challenge. My expectations have been lowered to just one great performance.

Seemingly straight forward title defenses for champs.

I don't know if you rank beyond top twenty, but interested if you do to see where all active former champions rank.

I just use the games silly rankings since they don't have much bearing on my matchmaking. You want a title shot for Audley? All the champions are again fighting in November, not a long list if challengers. At least he has finally hit prime.

Yeah, Luis is on hard times, it's a spot where guys like him Price & Pulev are essentially done and some of the new blood isn't quite ready.

Audley would be favored against Perez at this point, though he'd also probably be the most undeserving challenger in the history of the uni. He's ranked right around 150.

A slight change here and in the Nerd Tourneys. As my descriptions are sometimes confusing, the judges scores will be listed as the fighters are from now on.

Sultan Ibragimov 29-1-1 (21) vs Seth Mitchell 48-8 (40)

After a close opening round Mitchell landed two hard right hands in the second that stunned the Russian but Sultan floored him with a counter hook with seconds remaining. That made Seth more cautious and they trudged through rounds without a lot going on. Ibragimov hurt the American with a straight left in round eight and carried a lead until 'Mayhem' dropped 'Barney Rubble' with a right hand with seconds left in the bout. The judges deemed Ibragimov worthy of a tight SD. 114-111 x2 & 112-114

Guinn was on his game early on, using a sizable advantage in hand speed to bank the first three rounds before Fabio rocked him with right hands in the fourth and fifth rounds. Dominick fought back and he dropped Maldonado with a hook in round nine to secure the surprisingly majority decision. 93-98, 94-96 & 95-95


Robert Helenius 42-12 (30) vs Vladimir Virchis 18-1 (15)

Robert didn't get the changing of the guard script as he controlled the first two rounds with his long jab and hard right hands. Virchis closed the distance and they warred on even terms over the next three rounds with Helenius suffering a bad cut over his left eye in round four.

The youth of Virchis was evident over the second half of the fight, he clearly won the sixth and tenth rounds with strong work inside. The other rounds were very close even as Helenius labored for wind, in the end the crowd was overruled when Robert was awarded a SD. 96-95 x2 & 95-96


Alexander Povetkin 40-7-1 (25) vs David Cadieux 28-8-3 (18)

Povetkin may not have been able to claim a title at this point, but he was too much for Cadiuex as he ended his run with a barrage of blows in round four.


Sinan Samil Sam 17-0-1 (9) vs Eric Fields 37-10-3 (24)

Sam looked the part of a future player in the division with a dominant performance that saw him drop Fields four times and massacre his right eye en route to a one sided UD. 99-87 x3

I just had to make mention of a ridiculous war I just ran at the Club level.

Amir Mansour 10-0 (10) vs Riley Tyerman 4-4 (1)

Tyerman dropped Amir in each of the first two rounds, Mansour responded with a knockdown of his own in round three. Riley dropped him again in the fourth and fifth before dominating round six. Exhausted and battered, Amir somehow maintained his undefeated record when he knocked Tyerman out cold in round seven with a murderous uppercut!

Calvin Brock 27-2 (21) vs Denis Boytsov 36-4-1 (25)

Brock continued to surge, using his jab and nasty hooks to swell up and cut Boytsov's right eye by the third round and a right hand exploded his left eye in round six, with Brock in complete control and Boytsov's face a mess they stopped the fight.


Eddie Chambers 23-1-1 (11) vs Bermane Stiverne 31-9 (24)

Eddie had a strong first round and continued to land his jab in the second until Stiverne landed a booming right hand late in the stanza. Chambers was on his bike in the third and scoring well with his jab when, once again, Stiverne landed a huge right hand; but this time it put Eddie down for a four count just before the bell.

Bermane came out firing in the fourth and a vicious double hook to the body followed by an overhand right sent Chambers to the deck again, he survived a ton of punishment in the round and went toe to toe with the Canadian on even terms in round five.

That took a lot of wind out of both men and the second half slowed to a crawl. Eddie was more active and he used his jab to edge enough rounds to escape with a SD that has to leave Stiverne's fans wondering why he stopped punching! 95-94 x2 & 94-95


Tye Fields 20-0 (15) vs Carl Davis 26-6-5 (11)

It took Fields a round to track down Davis, but he caught him with an uppercut in the second and unloaded with both hands until the referee stepped in and saved Carl further punishment. LOL, I'm loving this run. Funny how sometimes I cheer for guys in the game that I never did in real life just for the odd aspect of the results.
