I'm out!

After waiting for the update I played a season with the latest version that went smooth and was fun I moved to season two and the game crashes everytime I click on a player to trade for him. This really stinks!

I appriciate the effort of the developers but this game has just turned into a PIA and I feel I have wasted my money.

Obviously an isolated case. Tell us exactly what you did, like, were you in Commish mode? Who was the player? Was it a 1 for 1 trade?

These details help tremendously for pinpointing the issue.

I hate to say it but as the CUSTOMER it is not really up to me to try to figure out why the game went south. Was not in commish mode, tried multiple players, never able to offer anything as game crashed.
The product is flawed. I for one have no desire to start a new game again and then invest time and have it crash again. I would LOVE if this game worked as advertised.

I've had the exact same problem. I was Minnesota Wild in second season in July, thought I would mess around looking at trading at stars like Ovechkin and Crosby etc. Every single player once I clicked to trade it crashed. I tried firstly with commissioner mode and secondly without. Then I tried other players and it still crashed.

I've had (have) this issue as well.

When trying to trade a player through the players page, the trade page would have two other teams in the middle of a trade and then crash. This has been in my first season.

Trading for the player "the long way" works fine though.

Fortuantely that's not what he or she asked. What they need to know is what actions or steps were taken that led up to the issue occuring. That way they can reproduce said issue and use development tools that can isolate the possible reason, and hence make resolving said issue much easier.

Were these crashes with new games/seasons or saved games from previous builds?

This bug as been reported over and over as early as during beta (by me among others, and yes in the bug thread) but still no change. What is the point of reporting them if nothing is done to correct it ?
I play in "normal mode" all leagues are loaded except for the British ones and Norway i think, no commissioner mode, no editing what so ever, just a normal NHL season with the Canadiens !

So this happened in your SECOND season? How long ago was it when you played your first season? A week ago? Two? This gives me an idea of the build that was involved. You mentioned latest version: do you mean 1.4.19? Or 1.4.20? I'm trying to help here.

I have purchased games before in their infancy and experienced the trials and frustrations as well as the exhilaration of seeing the developers hard work as well as the users feedback come together into a product that ends up being the best game of it's genre. There were times when I was ready to just cut my losses and cash it in, but I hung in there. One of those games was Madden Football. The first version of that game I bought was made for the Commodore 64 and it's biggest and best feature was the ability to design plays. To say there were graphics in this game is to say there is an oilfield in my Missouri back yard. They didn't exist! After a few years, I think it is safe to say that Madden Football has had some success. Another game I purchased when it was just a dream was Out of the Park Baseball. There were times that I was praying that Sierra Sports would bring back Baseball Pro, as Baseball Pro 98 was their last version...but I hung in there. I think it is also safe to say that the OOTP Baseball Project fought through some difficult times and, in my opinion, is the BEST sports simulation in existence.

With that being said, lancevance, if you really think that after a few months, FHM has seen it's best days, has no future and is a flop, well, that is a decision only you can make. But I still have my Commodore 64 and Madden Football for it and I also have my old 286 PC with my first copy of OOTP Baseball, and I love digging them out from time to time just to fire up those programs and remember where they started and how far they have come. Someday, I plan to pull out this version of FHM and marvel at what belief in a project, and perseverance can deliver to those who never give up. To those developers who are putting their blood, sweat and tears into this project, I want you to know that I truly appreciate your hard work and dedication as well as envy your skills and abilities. I am in for the long haul, as I have seen what you have delivered in the past and I have no doubt that each and every one of you have much more vested in this project than just getting $40 from as many people as you can before you take the money and run. This is a passion, not a game!

Thanks for your time!

Let me remind everyone that with each release letter for a new patch it is recommended to start a new game and not use save games of the previous versions.

You know this, correct?

This is a really well put together post. What I will say is you have a lot of experienced game players on this forum. I remember playing Football Manager back in its early versions when it was called Championship Manager it was a pretty basic Football Management game. I often wondered and waited in anticipation for the next version to see how it would improve and the game I recently bought Football Manager 2014 is a great game. Each year I saw the progress and continued to invest in the product. One year we even got two games Football Manager and Championship Manager, although CM has pretty much disappeared now.

However, in its infancy and in every other version of the game, what I have been able to do is carry out basic tasks of a Football Manager without many bugs, errors and mind bogglingly bad logic. I can sign players, Bosman (otherwise known as free agent players), sign youth players from other countries and renew contracts, all basic football stuff.

I bought FHM back in the beta days and have downloaded and played every Beta version and now patched the released version with every new patch. Basic GM tasks such as trading, signing FA's, using two way contracts with young prospects and signing foreign prospects from other leagues didn't work well with the beta versions and still don't work that great now with the four times patched released version. The patches that are released aren't tackling these kind of major issues for a game of this type but are fixing issues that I see as pretty minor.

A game where the basics work in the hockey universe of Now not history would have been a good start like good old Championship manager was for football back in the past. A pretty basic game that did what it said on the tin. If I had that now I could see the potential and think that things would be added and bolted on but I don't have that right now and that is why my patience disappeared.

This is why I consider this game to still be in Beta. Why start a game with the intention of putting time into it and not just testing it if another patch could be right around the corner to nullify the time you invested?
