Simming Games

Hello there all. How many games does everyone actually play? Do you play a certain amount and then let the computer play some? I like some control, but what is too much. I love the game. I just don't want a season to take forever.

There are as many answers as league types. I play some all sim leagues some all play leagues and some hybrid leagues (watch, play, sim). I much prefer the latter but the all sim leagues act as trials for various settings that I use.

I tend to play out games until I am 10 games up or 10 games behind the division leader. Then I sim a week at a time. If I might get back into it i will play out games again if not i will sim. The most games i have played recently was last the last 2 seasons playing out about 140 or 162 games. The other 22 per season where played out by letting the AI control the team while I took out the trash ate dinner, did misc stuff.

It's your playing style. If you play out every game, your season will obviously take longer. 162/ 2 or 3 games a day equals about a couple of months.

I personally like to create unique fictional leagues and be a "fan" of my league. Follow stats, certain teams, certain players, whatever I feel like doing. So, all sim. Whenever I'm a fan, I always play in commish mode, so if there is an aspect of my game I don't like, I can easily fix it.

Sometimes, when I actually do take control of a team, I only play as GM and sim out a week at a time. I also only look at box scores of games my team has won (I couldn't bear it if that 3-2 loss went to 17 innings or that 6-3 loss was on a walk-off grand slam given up by my closer). I find that I am better at building a team than making the strategical decisions in-game.

It's your call.

I generally sim all my games. Occasionally ill play one if a rookie is debuting or something is happening. I MUCH prefer playing as the GM and letting my manager manage the games.

I also like the off season most and building a team so i want the seasons to go quickly.

I do have a game where i am the manager of an A ball team and im managing every game trying to get hired by a major league team. Its fun but its time consuming, i dont play it nearly as much as my GM game

I play out all of my games. I don't think there is such a thing as too much control. I like to watch my team accomplish (or most of the time mess up) things as it happens. Its a matter of personal preference, as you play you will come up with a system that suits you.
