Grrrr this game is frustratingly awesome
Just saying. lmao
I love this game but good lord is it frustrating. After a 70 win season with the Mariners i made major changes in the team. Traded for cy young candidate Matt Latos mid season (he ended up winning it. Freaking dominant) I win 90 games the next year (even after trading felix because i HATE that contract) but get eliminated in the wild card. Sign Latos to an extension with the money freed by Felix. Im now 50 game sin and playing 500 ball. Latos is getting shelled ![]() Frustrating but i LOVE the realism. Sometimes you just dont know how players will play |

For years, this game was criticized as being too easy. We talked of all sorts of ways to ramp up the challenge, from settings to house rules.
But here, I will take this opportunity to express my opinion again: I think something was done in this version (14) to really make it tough to dominate, especially for extended periods as in a "dynasty." The reason I say this is because this is the first version in which I have experienced FRUSTRATION for extended periods instead. Previously, I would have a bad season or three but eventually I would make all the right moves and end up with perennial 100-game winners. Not so now! What you describe happened to me for 15 SEASONS in which I would struggle to get above .500, get up to 90 wins one season but only to fall back below .500 the next. This is new to me with OOTPB. It also makes the game more realistic. Best of all, when I finally AM good and win a world championship (came close last year), it is even more satisfying than before.

14 is the hardest version of this game I have played. On 11 I won with the 2006 Pirates. On 12 I won with the 2010 White Sox, on 13 I won with a fictional teams that was all scrubs. On 14 teams I think will be good suck. My current team has many self made players with edited stats, some are clones of real players. Sample size is small at 8-9 but both my 1B sare starting out terrible. one is a clone of Mark Grace the other is edited at .270 20 HR 34 2B .329 OBP and is hitting .079. My 10's across the board CF has hit .304, .298 and now .201 the past 3 seasons. Realistic, yes but extremely frustrating.

solo leagues
14 the best yet, but for a solo league, I wish that I could see the weather forecast (ie.wind direction, etc, so I could use a different SP if rain coming.............also wish there were actual rainouts, and I always wonder why or what it means when a SP with a velocity rating of 89-91 throws his fastball at 79-80 mph...............
