Financial impact of firing coaches?

The game manual explicitly says you will have to pay the remainder of the salary of any coach that is fired, but it does not explain how that salary is paid out. Here's my conundrum:

My current bench coach (Chip Hale) for the A's is making $800,000 per season from 2013 through 2018. A candidate for replacement (Pat Listache) has very similar ratings, particularly fielding, and can be had for $90,000 per season.

If I fire Hale, will $800,000 be tacked on to my personnel expenses annually in 2013, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18? Or will I be charged a lump sum of $4.8 million ($800,000 x 6 remaining seasons)?

I would rather just buy out the contract and take the salary hit in one year instead of being gimped for the better half of a decade. Anyone know the answer to this? I suppose the same would hold true for trainers, minor league coaches, etc.

I'm pretty sure you'll be assessed a lump sum 4.8m for one season. But not 100% sure.

I decided to run a test in another league. It comes as a lump sum. I fired a trainer making $360,000 per season for 3 years. His salary came off the books under current staff payroll, but I was dinged $1,080,000 ($360k x 3) under staff expenses. In summation, you will get hit with the penalty all at once. Great if you're well under budget looking to clean house, but bad if you're already near your max budget.

Hope this helps anyone who has wondered the same question.
