The draft feature
So, one of my favorite things to see in games like this is the ability to see player rankings/stats and draft our own players. I'm my own GM and I live and die with guys I chose.
But I gotta ask, is the interface and ability to compare players here as clunky as it seems to me? I started a fictional league in 1900 with 5 minor league teams to stock with players. There were over 2000 draftable players which is fine. I can sort by columns, put that little red dot off to the left to remember these generic player names whom I like and want to consider drafting. But as soon as I go to another screen or especially if I click on a player to look at their profile/scouting reports and then go back to the main draft screen, the red dots are gone, I can't remember whom I had selected for comparisons and back to square one. Maybe I'm missing some important feature that allows me to do this but I don't want to have to write these names and stats in Word or a notepad outside of the software itself. Even if I chose the "Write report to disk" option, I was thinking that would send an output of ALL players eligible to be drafted that I could save into Excel and work from there but no, its just a screenshot of the 20-30 players I'm looking at in the game screen. And more importantly, can the players I've highlighted and marked still be marked when it comes around to my turn in the draft again so I can see who is left or if I have to compare an additional 10-15 players yet again. The manual is no help regarding sorting/comparing and such. Doing a search on the forums found no other threads of people talking or complaining about this. So it has to be me. Where can I go to properly compare between the 2B and C and ooh, that RF looks good too. Thanks in advance for any advice or knowledge. Last edited by carmah; 11-01-2013 at 01:37 PM. |

The best way to do what you're trying to do is to go into each player's profile that you want to "mark" and click the "Shortlist" button in the lower right.
Then you can go into your Manager Menu -> Player Shortlist & Search to pull up a list of all players you've shortlisted. You then have to find those guys in the draft screen again, so it's not exactly a perfect method, but it will accomplish what you're trying to do. |

Thanks for that Fyrestorm3. I did make use of the shortlist feature and it was a little better to help narrow down draft pick choices. But I guess I'm just amazed that a game like this, with so many features and options has such an archaic, non-user friendly drafting mechanism.

Every time you short list a player, his name shows up all in upper case throughout the game. May not be exactly what you're looking for, but when you go to the draft screen, it's quite easy to glance quickly at the list and see who's name is in upper case.
There is also a "compare" option on the player page. Click on it and a list of recently viewed players will appear. You can select from that list to compare to the player whose profile you are on. Once you click the compare button, a new page opens. Upper right corner is an option to "Select Player". Click, the drop down opens and you can choose from recently viewed or shortlist players. Personally I think the draft system works fine. Last edited by Bluenoser; 11-03-2013 at 10:22 AM. |
