Negative $?

I'm in the first off-season of my Nationals franchise and I had a pretty successful year totaling 92 wins and a playoff berth. However, when I looked at my budget info in early November it says my projected budget is -2,000,000. I havnt spent a penny as I stood pat at the deadline and have yet to sign someone. Can someone help me understand why I'm projected to have no money??

Your players currently under contract, some have raises coming to them. Has your owner revealed the new budget yet? That also plays a role.

I explain in that thread how the game determines money for Free Agents and Extensions. This is very similar. Let's say you have a budget of $10M. You have eight players on your team, each one making $1M. Your budget room for this year is therefore $2M (disregarding staff and other miscellaneous expenses). Now let's say that all eight players are under contract for next year, but four of them are due $2M instead of $1M. Your players' contracts thus total $12M, and if your projected budget is still $10M, you're going to have a -$2M projected budget room.

Arbitration can also have an effect. If you have a number of players going from league minimum to arbitration it can eat money fast. I am adding this to what Fyrestorm said because if you just look in player profile you may not notice arbitration raises. I would look in your finances tab under Salaries and see what players are making more or are eligible for arbitration raises.

Good luck,
Tom
