As with all the MLB guys he was rated based on PECOTA's projections early in the year. Clearly the projections were a little off in his case

I just upped him quite a bit, though he'll be reset by his PECOTA projections again next year.

Harvey walked nearly four batters per nine innings in his 10 starts in 2012, so the PECOTA projections entering 2013 made sense. Nobody could've expected him to show the control he had this season.

Yeah... those BABIPs are moving in opposite directions year-to-year. Strasburg has been kinda lucky and Kershaw has been very unlucky.

But, hey it's Baseball. Just ask the Cardinals and Red Sox!

Here's what he did the next season... High babip, was injured so only made 23 starts, and still was 2nd on MLB in WAR. Crazy!
